what should i do
I need some advice with an issue that actually concerns this site...What would you do if you knew that someone on this site was presenting themselves as a completely different person than who they really are...??? This isn't a small issue, this person is convicted of a crime...a very serious one at that...and seems to have forgotten what they did...I don't know what to do? I just signed up on this site and am really not comfortable staying on if this other person continues to do so...which is fine...but I cannot sit and watch this person try to fool others and deceive...I would never openly say who or what...but is there anything that can be done???
It is a harsh reality that there are people out there who are just not honest...I need to learn that NO MATTER WHAT, I cannot control the actions of others and I am not responsible to judge anyone...But on this issue, I almost feel that it is an issue of safety...

well... is it something that they've atoned for? and is it possible that this person could have changed? and that they are respresenting who they really are now?

not a chance in OUTER DARKNESS...
lovemykids - call your ward leaders and report what you know... I know what your talking about...
as leaders in the church we are to 1st to learn about child abuse and keep informed on it. and 2nd we need to protect the child and from what I have seen so far on this site and this members actions he is so full of it and so misleading people on here and after reading his blog he is still harming his children and I believe committing more crimes and breaking the restraining order.
3rd we are to help the offender to repent of his sins and on this one Im having a hard time... a guy like this needs to Burn in the OUT DARKNESS IMHO the savor hit the nail on the head when he said a mill stone should be tied around the neck and the person should be drowned at the bottom of the seas.

i agree with the suggestion to send a message to the mods....if there is truely a safety issue the only way it can be delt with is if we know. it is also why we warn about safety and encourage safety guidelines....
under terms of agreement...."Please choose carefully the information you post on LDS.NET and that you provide to other Users. You may NOT include any of the following information anywhere on LDS.NET, including private messages: telephone numbers, street addresses, last names,..." (a link to this can be found on every page with the site rules)
this has also been provided..... Internet Safety

Interesting. Just a few days ago I felt prompted to make a post in the internet safety thread about this topic.
Ilovemykids, If you know the specific person and they are on this site why would you not say who it is? Maybe you could tell the crime this person committed. If you worried about the safety of members here maybe a heads up or warning about a general behavior of this personcould be helpful?

That's the problem with the INTERNET, the anonymity of it. If you have specific proof of this then send it to a mod or Heather so that it can be verified. If it is true, then it will be handled.

will do... both the Bishop and Stake Pres are aware of what is going on... and I hope soon the State of Idaho will also since some of the pictures and the blog post are infractions of the law.

What?
So if I understand correctly, You are referring to someone whom you know personally on this site that you can identify as for sure it is this actual person.
Then you say he/she has been convicted of a crime. And then you know that he/she has not repented of this sin and is in fact now trying to be a better person by congregating with fellow LDS members around the world. You say that you are uncomfortable with this person being online.
This is called judgment. This person is going to live their life as they see fit. I suggest you do the same. I am surrounded in this church by people who can't let the sins of others go. Especially the small ones. (not suggesting that this crime is small.)
The idea that you wouldn't be able to interact with the good people on this site because of another person on this site tells me more about you that the other person. (read prodigal son). You can't let the actions of others allow yourself to be poisoned with the pride of judgment. That is Satan's greatest tool. If he can get us to look at others instead of our own.
From your statement this person is already convicted of a crime. Unless this person is now trying to commit another I would ignore them. If you have some proof that this person is doing something inappropriate at home or church go to the authorities, but this sounds liike a case of "I can't believe this" scenario.
Most of the comments on this post surprised me. Calling cops, identifying someone for allegedly no being themselves? uh hummm. Kind of scary. No one on this page is using their real name. I doubt a lot of you would want to be exposed because someone else thinks you should be on here. Just some thoughts.

People lie on the internet?? No way!!
If he's not doing anything illegal or immoral then I'm not sure he's in the wrong. The people he talks to have a responsibility to use common sense and caution.
