Default Temple prep

Hey all,

A few months ago I posted about my addiction to pornography. I was mired in the sickness of it. However, by relying on the Savior and taking his valiance upon me, I have been found able to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood. I'll be having an interview to receive my endowments soon after my ordination. Therefore, I want to get advice from those already endowed as to how to best prepare. I've taken the temple prep class and would like talks to read. Also, any testimonies of the temple would be very welcome.

OES

In relation to my whole life, not just going to the temple, one of the best things I've read is "The Miracle Of Forgiveness."

My Bishop also recommended "Endowed From On High" though I haven't read it yet.

Temple Pre is probably the best thing you can do. Honestly after that I don't think there is a lot you can do to prepare. The Temple is just something you have to experince. I think all the prepreation in the world still probably wouldn't be enough.

With that said, and probably is quoted a lot in the Temple Pre manual (which you can read online) is the book called The Holy Temple by Elder Packer. I have read parts of it and seems to do a good job of at least a lot of doctrines that the temple has with it. I think Elder Talmage also wrote a book about the temple. From what I remember he actually wrote it in the temple (SLC). Haven't read it.

Also a warning, this is going to be a pretty tough path! Satan knows the direction you are now heading in your life. He is going to try to do anything he can to get you off this path! Now you know Satan is going to do this! The key is to regognize when satan is trying to tempt you! Notice it before it happens! Thats the key to stoping it.

Michael Wilcox also has a really good book on the temple that I recommend reading.

I concur with this. You are back on the path of righteousness, and Satan hates that! He'll do anything to stop you, and try to bring you back to his ways. A close friend of mine struggled with pornography but was clean for a long time. The night before his temple marriage, he had the overwhelming temptation to view porn again. Luckily he resisted, and was sealed the next day - but that was Satan trying his last ditch effort to prevent my friend's righteous desires. It will probably happen to you, too, but you can be strong!

Thanks to all who have responded! =)
tubaloth & annamaureen~ Very true. Satan clamors after us when we turn away from sin. I notice that his efforts have increased. I've found that when I start feeling tempted if I think to myself "The Lord's valiance is with you. Whatever you lack He will compensate for." the temptation loses its hold on me. I now consistently read and study the scriptures every day, first thing after my morning prayer. It has made all the difference. Its easier to hold to the rod if I start the day doing so, and the mists of temptation cannot deter me.
