I think you should quit, too, but I decided that before I got to your story. Working for a payday loan company is just about the lowest thing a person could legally do, if you ask me. Those places are one of the largest consumer rip-offs known to man. I don't know how anyone with a conscience could do what they do to the people who can least afford to have it done to them. As far as I'm concerned, it's comparable to legal financial rape. So, yes, quit immediately, and find a job you can be proud of, where you can accomplish good things.

I did a some temp work, which included working at a liquor store, to help pay for my mission. :P
Personally, If you can get an escort, take it. Just look for a new job. I don't know what it is like where you are, but it is VERY easy to find a job here.
Especially if you are tight for cash. Not all of us can just up and quit because we finaincially rape people.
Pray about it.

I agree with John Doe. You can't feel good about working at a place like that, when there are so many other options. Find another job!
One of my favorite pre-college jobs was Mailboxes Etc. (which is now The UPS Store). They are everywhere. Also, a frozen yogurt place, TCBY, was fun. I made great money waitressing as well.

I don't agree with you on the part about it being financial rape. Most people who come in have no where else to go. They have had hard times and no one else will lend them the money they need for the broken down car or the son who needs stitches. There are no credit checks and most people only need the loan for 7-14 days, banks just don't do that kind of thing. BUT, PLAN YOUR MONEY TO PAY FOR THOSE HARD TIMES!!!! THE INTREST ADDS UP VERY QUICKLY!!!! DO NOT GET A PAYDAY LOAN UNLESS YOU ARE VERY VERY CERTAIN YOU CAN PAY IT OFF!!!!!!!!!

At 300-1000% annual interest? It's financial rape. I agree you should be smart and plan for things, but it is unconscionable what these places charge, and they are absolutely ruthless when it comes to collecting. They are legalized loan sharks, plain and simple.

Of course they're ruthless when it comes to collecting. Any other financial institution is just as ruthless when it comes to collecting. Our own government is ruthless when it comes to collecting. There is a reason the intrest rates are so high, it's because a lot of the people who get the loans don't pay them off. In fact, they go so far as to get the loan and leave town, disconnect their phones and leave no forwarding address. If you just talk to the collecting party, they are usually very willing to work something out, like a payment plan or something. As far as the whole legalized loan shark bit, that's a low blow. There is a huge difference between a financial institution and a loan shark. For one thing, people don't get killed borrowing money from financial institutions. Anyways, I see your point but, I still don't have the same opinion as you. Every business has it's place and if there wasn't a need there would be no payday loan places. I don't know why people get the loans but I know a lot of them get them to pay for things like insurance deductables, phone bill, stupid spouses etc... I also think that a payday loan is the very last place people should turn to for financial assistance. Anyways, I'm done talking about it because I can't change your opinion and you can't change mine. All I can hope for is that some body reads this post and DOESN'T get a payday loan because they are hard to pay off.

Don't turn this into a stellati-johndoe thing. There are jobs that pay the same or better wages than a place like that. As for working in the liquor store. You were peddling the very thing that you went out and taught people they shouldn't do? LIttle ethics come into play here.

Actually, if I don't know someone's name and they did something stupid, they automatically become Holmes, or Geeves, or Lemmywinks, or Buckwheat. At least until I find out their name.

I don't buy that. "Buckwheat" has historically been attached to black people, this is not new. If one doesn't know what things will offend another perhaps it isn't correct to automatically give them a derogatory moniker.
This just turned into an offensive post.
Sorry, CHarlie. I hope this isn't the deciding factor.

I did not see this as offensive as I mentioned in a previous post in this thread. I believe much of what we consider to be derogatory comes from how and where we live.
We can not change what someone has said only the way we perceive it to be said. LionHeart explained what he meant and I bought it before he even had to explain it. This is only offensive if you want to see it that way IMO.
Stellati, I am happy that you left that job. Best of Luck finding a safer place to work and let us know how it works out for you okay.

I feel kinda stupid. I didn't even know 'Buckwheat' meant that. My dad always called my little brother 'Buckwheat'. That is always good to know.
