Default Thinking about leasing a car. Please give advice

I am thinking about leasing a car because my current car has had so many problems (and it is only at 85,000 miles). I have sunk $2,500 in repairs in to my Chevrolet Aveo in the last 6 months and I just want to sell it and not deal with it anymore.

I would like to lease a car for two years spending about $3,200 total in leasing order to save up enough money to buy another car. I want to spend about $7,000 on Toyota Scion eventually.

What should I know about leasing a car? If I cannot put at least 14,000 miles a year on a leased car the car will be of no use to me since I travel about 50 miles a day to work and back.

Has anyone leased a car before? What was your experience?

Almost every car lease I see advertised allows for 12,000 miles per year. A higher mileage lease may cost as much as actual financing. You'd have to check with your dealer regarding the mileage - especially if you go over the allotted miles per year. (I've heard as much as 10 cents per mile... a rather expensive taxi, in addition to the cost of gas, insurance, payments and everything else.)

Generally, the best way to lease a car is not to. At least not in your own name for personal use.

If a company leased a car FOR you for business purposes, then the lease payments are tax-deductible for that company and the IRS helps to partially finance your car for business purposes.

Thanks for the input. I decided against leasing a car. Incurring debt for a car would be better than leasing. But I will never get a loan through a dealership. They charge way too much.

I will likely either buy my next car from a dealership or from someone I know in California who fixes Scions up. He is honest. If I did buy from him I would have to drive the car all the way back to Utah.
