This is a question that I have had the need to look at many times over the past several years.
Nick began having headaches with his hyperbaric therapy. The day the headache was followed by throwing up we were told that he needed to get to the ER. I am currently living hours away from my son and hearing this news nearly had me feeling helpless and curled up in a ball remaining in my PJ's for the entire day.
On a regular basis I resort to doing really wild things like talking to dragonflies and lizards.
My hubby resorts to spending lots of money.
How do you cope with stressful times?
I know Winnie steals her neighbors gnomes

Perhaps as someone else suggested in another thread, you could try listening to relaxation cds, try meditating, something like that, to relax your mind and body on a daily basis then you could cope with the stresses a little easier?
Good luck Strawberry, I hope Nick is feeling better soon!

Have you heard of Ricky Gervais/The Office?
I find him soooo funny...especially his stand up routines, Politics and Animals...they're quite irreverent but sooo funny...my daughter insists on watching him whenever she's feeling down...

For many, keeping thoughts, feelings and actions bottled up is like holding a beach ball under water. It tends to pop to the surface eventually. I would suggest not holding in the fears, thoughts and other emotions that are bubbling below the surface with someone that can provide a safe and comfortable holding environment. Just my two cents.

Comfort foods (tiramasu, donuts, almost anything sinfully salty or sweet). Escaping into a movie sometimes helps.
Of course, the best answers are spiritual. Prayer, Bible reading, listening to praise and worship music. However, somehow, these are not the first line of defense. Romans 7 comes to mind--I do not do the things I know to, and I do the things I know I should not . . .

This reminds me of something like Dorothy on the Wizard Of Oz or Harry Potter who always had what they needed 'inside' of them. Thanks PC.

Hi SF,
I'm sorry you are dealing with this. Are headaches a known side effect of this treatment? Hopefully it will decrease over time, or is he getting closer to the completion of the treatments? I hope this will do exactly what they are hoping for.
During stressful times, I eat chocolate, unfortunately. I also like to listen to all my favorite music, as that's very calming to me. If you're having a really rough time, I suggest talking to a therapist. Sometimes it can help just getting everything out.
And yes, comedy! Pushka, I love The Office. My husband and I started watching it on BBC and were boycotting the American version when it came out, knowing that it just wouldn't do. However, we gave it a chance and I have to say it's equally as good.

actually from someone who is just learning how to do this also, sweets r never the answer they may make u feel better for a little while but then you actually sink deeper after that little high goes away. there for you end up eatting it all the time and that mixed with the lows only makes u gain wait and feel worse. i have the hardest time with this one, lol i actually had to (still do) post little signs ALL over my house and in my car etc. that say "sugar makes me sick"
somethings i have found that do help me r A) pray alot and read my scriptures every day...iv noticed if i forget then i sink down again. B ) write down what you feel, it helps to know what your actually feeling, and not just the normal sad angry upset stuff but spusific(sp?) things....i was given a list if you would like it i could send it to you...but writing down how u feel helps alot...its even better if you talk to someone about it, im still trying to learn to tell people the way i feel. C) dont give in, if you feel down or low dont give into the urge to just lay there and do nothing, i throw on my dance stuff and dance in my basement...some people go for a run, something arobic to get those indorfonse(sp?) up, those r the little things that make you happy
well those r some of the things i have learned through my experience i hope it helps you. just remember keep strong even if you dont want to and more than anything lean on the lord its what he is there for, at least thats how i like to look at it.
