Have you ever tried candling?
Look it up on the internet. I think Walgreens sells kits.

I would ring your doctor again, and explain what you think you might have..they may be able to schedule an earlier appt. just so that you can start taking antibiotics as soon as possible...inner ear infections are nasty!!

I have MS. I though i had an inner ear infection when i got diagnosed with my MS. I had migraine's on top of feeling dizzy. I was in so much pain i clutched the top of my head. If you got pain in your ear that's probably what it is. I had extra stuff like weakness in my leg's, and back area. Whatever it is i would see a doctor.
I would ask the emergency room personal if it's important enough to go down. I would talk to your doctor's nurse first. Ask them what you should do? In my town we have quick care so i go to them. But i have had them send me to the emergency room anyway.
I do not know if such an infection can damage your hearing. If it can that's an emergency in my thinking. If they think you can get by until Monday do so. I am sorry you are feeling ill.

Ear infections are nothing to lollygag about. I know some people (myself included) who suffer ringing in the ears from not getting medical attention soon enough for an ear infection. If you haven't gotten in to a doctor, keep trying until you do! *insert sound of whip cracking here*

Make certain that it is really an ear infection and not a yeast infection. When I was a child I was treated repeatedly (years) for ear infections- hot ear, aching, itching, fever - with penicillin. Well - they were not normal infections. It was yeast infections. The penicillin fed it and eventually the infection had to go somewhere and it burst my eardrums.
I wear hearing aids now. Believe me, when my ears start to ache, I make sure it is not yeast. I make the Dr do a culture, and in the meantime I take antihistamines.
I echo what the other have said about getting in NOW to see the Dr. When your ears hurt and/or itch you just do not mess around getting it seen to. The same with your teeth. You only get one set and if you don't take proper care of them, then you will lose them.
