Default New Book by LDS Author

The book is called Wrath and Penance - A Modern Day Story of Job.

The book is a retelling of the story of Job from the old testament in modern times.

It truly is a great book, starts a little slow but by chapter 4 you cannot put it down.

The book brings out a full range of emotions especially if you are a parent.

Here is a link where you can get the first chapter for free.

That sounds like a great story that I must try to make time to read.

Hello All,

If I am in the right place, I have two books I would recommend.

1. Douglas Thayer's Frost in the Orchard. It is such a skillful literature, full of tenderness, yearning and confusion. The book is one of those you cannot put down as you are so focused on the end, and is full of Mormon thought. The book was written in 1972, which blew me away when I discovered that. However, I think the works are timeless, and every memer who reads it will be riveted to discover the end.

2. Levi Petersen's Backslider. I know I've mentioned this before, but it bers a second, third, etc mention. Petersen is considered by those interested in Mormon Lit as the ultimate LDS author of the moment.

It is the story of a young man who knows right from wrong as a Mormon, and is trying so hard not to break the laws. But, as the title tells, he is not always able to do this. But when he does, the books is very moving.

Those are my two recomdations for now. If I'm in the wrong thread, would someone please let me know.

Elphaba

I have found a couple of good authors for young adults. I'm sure everyone has heard of the Twilight series by now by Stephanie Meyers and then I also enjoy James Dashner. He writes a series called A Door In The Woods and just recently he started a new series that starts with The Journal Of Curious Letters.

Thanks for the recommends!
TerryW is not by chace Terry Warner is it? In any event, another good LDS author - Terry.

I very strongly recommend:

Bonds That Make Us Free: Healing Our Relationships, Coming to Ourselves
by C. Terry Warner

It is online here:
Bonds That Make Us Free: Healing Our Relationships, Coming to Ourselves

although it is worth buying - a few copies - so you can share the experience with others. It is one of those life changing books, you will never be the same again.

I agree. I bought this book a few years ago. It is very profound and VERY intense.

I would not recommend this book to those who are not serious about looking in the mirror of who they really are, or for those who are not sincere about wnating to change. This book is great, but it really can strip a person of all the false and erroneous notions that one may have about themselves. If you are not ready to be stripped of such illusions, then don't get this book. But if you are ready to get to the core of who you really are, and want to make a sincere change, then this book is for you.
