I'm a bit skeptical about her.

I've heard lots of reviews strictly from females. I've not heard any guy come out and say how much he likes it.

Are the books then geared heavily for a female audience?

Are they actually well-written, composed, with strong characters, character development, interesting conflict, without cliche, and no Deus Ex Machina moments?

Or is it more like Transformers the movie, which was a pretty lame story with a lot of action, guns, cars, and giant toys come to life? In otherwords: a guy movie.

Edit: I want to read her books, since I have heard so much great stuff. I'm so not dismissing her. But... the library here hasn't had them in when I've been there.

Okay I just started reading it last night. Having a really difficult time understanding who is talking etc. But I'll stick with it since others have said it's difficult to get into at first.

I do recommend this to anyone who loves Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, or if you haven't read that series, this is great either way.

I am a male and I still love reading the books. To answer your question, Lehi: When I read the Twilight series, I kind of got bored with the romantic parts where Bella is with Edward, but I got over that and really loved the meat of the actual story.

Same with The Host. There are some parts where the main character thnks about her love for another one of the characters, but it doesn't take away from the beauty of the entire story. How she writes is amazing, I'm almost done with the story and can't wait for Breaking Dawn (which comes out August 2nd!).

Just my two cents

I have read to page 17 and have just been too busy to sit long enough to get into it. I feel that it is very important to read the Prologue especially for this book.

Woops, sorry for the late reply! I just finished it last night (and stayed up too late ). Yeah pam, it took me a while to get into it and understand what was going on since I was verily confused, but once the story progressed, I began to love the characters and their relationships. I need to read it again, becasue the beginning will make more sense after you've read it once.

Hope that helps
