How is Harry Potter a geek?

Take the so-called standard of living. What do most people mean by "living"? They don't mean living. They mean the latest and closest plural approximation to singular prenatal passivity which science, in its finite but unbounded wisdom, has succeeded in selling their wives. ~e.e. cummings, Introduction, Poems, 1954

It is known that there is an infinite number of worlds, but that not every one is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so if every planet in the Universe has a population of zero then the entire population of the Universe must also be zero, and any people you may actually meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination. ~Douglas Adams, The Original Hitchhiker Radio Script

The only one that is a real geek is ron. Harry is just shy so he's not so outgoing that doesn't make him a geek. I like guys like that.

harry's a horrible jerk in the fifth book. i wanted to punch him in his face.
a friend of mine, who has raised, and is rasing teenage boys, told me that J.K. Rowling perfectly portrayed a teenage in boy. and that she oculd tell because everyone wanted to punch him. i thought that was pretty funny of her to say.

Who is Harry Potter?

Just kidding.

My granddaughter is 15 now, and during her growing up years I bought her all the Harry Potter books. I read each of them too. That way, though separated by many miles, we shared an experience. Kelsy, my granddaughter, loves the Potter series, as do I.

My favorite character is Hermione. She is a strong girl, later a young woman, who knows her mind. My favorite scene, actually from one of the movies versions because it is visual, is when she hauls off and decks Draco Malfoy. (I am non-violent. No, really in real life I am.) Kelsy seems a lot like Hermione, though I've never seen her deck anyone.

Even though I'm an adult, I love the Harry Potter series. The thing I love is that those books have gotten many children to love reading. I look forward to seeing my niece get into those books when she's older, as she's 8 months old.
