The Case for Israel by Alan Dershowitz (Harvard Law School Professor)

This is an apologetic work for the state of Israel’s existence. Dershowitz doesn’t agree with all Israel’s actions and doesn’t defend all that they do, if fact he is quite critical about a number of things - though he doesn’t really dwell on or explain his objections. He takes charges by against Israel (by other scholars, politician etc) and with excellent documentation refutes them. For example:

-European Jews Displaced Palestinians
-Jews were unwilling to share Palestine
-Jews were a minority in what became Israel
-Israel started the six-day war
-Israel tortures Palestinians
-Israel denies statehood to Palestine
-Terrorism is merely a cycle of violence
-etc

Dershowitz is obviously a critic of the Palestinian terrorists and a supporter of Israel but he gets his facts straight and well-documented. The layout of the book is great, each chapter answers one of the charges against Israel. Of course there are probably plenty of false changes against the Palestinians but he does not address those or at least refute them. Still, the book is very worthwhile and full of penetrating insight and analysis.

Recommended.
