Default Great Pyramid

I am LDS, but this is not really an LDS sub, unless you are a Nib. fan possibly. Anyways, some have speculated that the Great Pyramid is a temple. Before I joined the LDS church I went to Egypt, my family is sort of into the pyramid thing. Anyways, there are some things that look like a temple in it. Here is a video – long – 7 parts, but you might find it interesting. I think most of the relig stuff is at the end, parts 5, 6, 7… what do you think?

Pyramid Temple? Makes sense. You had many Masons working on building the edifice. The walls were inscribed with much symbolic text, some of which may have even been Reformed Egyptian. Next you has Egyptian Priests performing their ceremonies over the altar of the sarcophagus in order to to help translate the spirit of the Pharaohs to their Celestial destination. They even left the dearly departed with breathing permits that in some cases doubled as the Book of Abraham. Finally, you have people within the last fifty years getting reacquainted with Pyramid Power, which if you stretch it a bit could seem analogous to Priesthood Power.

"In that day shall there be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt and a pillar at the border thereof to the Lord. And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt." Isa. 19:19,20

in the midst - The Great Pyramid stands in latitude 30, at the center of an area which sweeps the Delta of lower Egypt. The Great Pyramid was placed, not only at the exact center of the Nile delta quadrant, but, it is also placed at the exact center of all the land mass of the earth. That's right. Lines drawn north, south, east and west from the pyramid equally divide the earth's terrain.

The Great Pyramid is in the midst of Egypt but it also marks the ancient border of Upper and Lower Egypt

I don't think you watched the vids. I did not mean to make it into some mystical scientology thread - it is not, don't see "Pyramid" and assume that is what I was going for... throw baby out with bathwater... there is actually some pretty cool stuff around the pyramid.

The great Pyramid has no symbolic texts - nothing is written on any walls inside of it.

The great Pyramid is not a tomb

Mormon Pyramid link
The Great Pyramid (of Pharaoh Cheops) was built sometime around the period that Abraham was in Egypt. The pyramid was permanently closed with a plug, and there was never a body interred there.[3] The pyramid included all the necessary symbolism for use in ascension rituals. It had three basic levels. At the bottom, which was subterranean (representing the telestial kingdom), is found a pit that could have been used to store water for washings. The next level up is called the Queen’s Chamber, representing the terrestrial kingdom. It was higher in the structure and larger. You then ascend to the King’s Chamber (representing the celestial kingdom). It is larger and grander. There are two basic sections. The first could be used for teaching and initiation, then, as you go through a section meant to divide the two rooms, the final room is entered. There was a box (or ark) in the room. It does not take much to assume this ark contained the law, and that the initiates would kneel at this ark or alter.

What was the cornerstone in scripture?
... the only shape with only one cornerstone is a pyramid. The cap / cornerstone of the great pyramid is currently missing. will it be replaced during the second coming?

Book of Mormon evidences
American Pyramids look like Egyptian ones.

Pearl of Great Price was a pyramid text...
scriptures were found in pyramids - not the great pyramid, but in a pyramid...

aren't you curious about a building that Abraham is thought to have built?

Not to knock you theory but the being that the earth is a sphere couldn't you do that with any place? unless the earth is lopsided?

Journey to the Center of the Earth
Only a solid stone mountain could endure the Pyramid's immense weight. And indeed, a flat solid granite mountain happens to be located just beneath the surface of the ground directly under the Pyramid.

It is built to face true North.

The Pyramid is located at the exact center of the Earth's land mass. That is, its East-West axis corresponds to the longest land parallel across the Earth, passing through Africa, Asia, and America. Similarly, the longest land meridian on Earth, through Asia, Africa, Europa, and Antarctica, also passes right through the Pyramid. Since the Earth has enough land area to provide 3 billion possible building sites for the Pyramid, the odds of it's having been built where it is are 1 in 3 billion.

Eh, that video is so outdated and the whole christianalized ending is... well deplorable. They present as fact (or near fact) that which is barely supported conjecture.

I do think, however, that an educated and scholarly LDS could take the (true) facts about the pyramids and draw some intresting parallels to LDS theology. Of course, whoever does this should make sure to keep certain things straight. For instance:
Abraham lived circa 1812 BCE to 1637 BCE
The Great Pyramid was built circa 2560 BCE.
Abraham could not have been a builder or designer of the Great Pyramid.

I'm no big fan of history books, but in this case, I think I'll stick with what's in them. The pyramids were build with slave labor by pharoes who had everyone convinced they were gods, and might have believed it themselves. The whole deal was made possible by the huge stable food supply provided by fertile farmland and regular nile flooding.
