Naaa. . . . I don't believe in ghosts and such.

But I do believe your soul moves on and progresses.

Well, the spirit realm does exist. It is acknowledged in the scriptures. At the same time, God tells us not to mess with that stuff. Those spirits that "roam" are disobedient spirits that are unable to "rest", in a sense.

We should not disquiet or attempt to contact them. It is a grievous sin and we should stay away from that and pay absolutely no attention to those matters.

I agree. I don't necessarily know that it's a sin (not claiming it's not though). But I know it's dangerous. It may be something of a curiosity for some, but I've had enough minor encounters to know I've seen all I want to.

There's another user on here somewhere who has a hostile spirit living in an unused room connected to his apartment. I believe there are some people who after they die, refuse to leave the place where they lived as mortals, and consider the people who move in next to be invaders. I can imagine the hostilities that would arise from that.

When I think about the experience Joseph Smith Jr. had immediately preceeding his first vision, and I compare with with my own experiences, I know that unclean spirits have power that is not to be underestimated or trifled with.

Whether it's a sin or not, it is definitely dangerous to tangle with them. We have the Priesthood to, among other things, protect us from them. The scriptures also mention a blessing given to the ancient saints, or perhaps only missionaries in ancient times, that they would be immune to snake venom. Contrary to what some believe today, it doesn't mean we're supposed to hand out rattlesnakes and expect to not get bitten and suffer the effects of the venom. We also shouldn't experiment with unclean spirits. Curiosity can kill the cat.
