We show our love to Heavenly Father by being good husbands, wives, parents, and children. We do it by service to our family, as well as our brother's and sisters.
The importance is always Heavenly Father, in the highest.
Quote:
Mark 12
28 ¶ And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

The Family: A Proclamation to the World points out what we should be doing, in regards to family.
As Latter-day Saints, we believe fairly strongly in what's taught in
James 2. (Follow link for highlighted verses.)

Being a proper, loving, family member (whatever role that you may have in your family), is a sign of obedience
and a work.
