Default What should happen to the grandmother?

So what do you think should happen here?

Default Go to Jail

The grandmother may claim temporary insanity at seeing such happen, but her grand daughter was a minor as well as not harming the grandmother in any way. She also beat the child with a cane till it broke.
However noble the grandmother's motives might be-she attacked a minor-and thus may be charged with assault as well as be charged with child abuse.
She will probably spend some time in jail-a just punishment for harming a child.

An enraged violent attack is counter evidence of noble motives, is it not?

I don't care if she was in bed with a billy goat, you don't beat your kid senseless with a cane.

She should be treated the same way as anyone who abuses a child, no more and no less.

I agree. I wonder if it would have been different if it was a boy in bed as apposed to a girl? Either way, the Grandmother should be treated the same as any other criminal who abuses children or assaults others.

I suppose she should be treated like any other caregiver who does the same. The reasons behind the discipline aren't really relevant, she'll be charged according to the local laws.

I'm a little curious as to whether or not the OP was expecting a different answer...

Should there be any excuse to severly beating a child?

What gets me is that, while we all seem to agree that beating a child is wrong, so many other people all across the planet seem to be able to come up with reasons to batter children.

Mental illness is the "reason" for battering a child...people just cannot be in their right mind, to do such things...to anyone, but especially a child.
