Default "Black hole" a racist term?

MyFox Dallas | 'Black Hole' Comment Ignites Controversy

Quote:
And it gets worse. Price is not only defending his black hole/white hole protest, he’s gone further and proclaimed “angel’s food cake” and “devil’s food cake” racist terms, too. Oh, and “black sheep” is out as well.
Seriously.
This is what the culture of victimhood and racial hypersensitivity has wrought.
Michelle Malkin “Black hole” brouhaha, continued: Official says “devil’s food cake” is racist, too!

Now this is really getting strange...I mean, how far are we going to go to become "politically correct"? Cartoons we grew up with are censored or edited to avoid offending anyone and now perhaps we have to go after astronomy terms as well? Can't wait to see some organization of American Indian midgets sue NASA over the term "Red Dwarfs".

It is obviously not a racist term. The way I read it is the guy was losing the debate and when the opportunity came to throw the race card into the debate he used it to put the other guy on the defensive.

The outrage should be coming from people of every color and creed to such abusive use of the race card. So many people have fought and died going against real racism that when punks like this cry wolf, it takes away from those who have really suffered. Instead the media and most people turn a blind eye to it and go about their day. I am outraged by this loser using the race card and everybody else should we too.

This was just a misunderstanding from a guy who did not know the astronomical term black hole. It is related to a lack of education on the Councilman's part.

I agree with posts above. Strange is clearly a mild adjective when on the face of such non-sense. In my sometimes not very humble opinion, these are the kind of people that scream and yell colossal stupidities in an attempt to silence the conversation since their argument ran itself into the wall and they really have nothing meaningful to say!!.

There are some outdated and politically exhausted characters that have run out of steam. They are old news, incapable of contributing anything intelligent and insightful to the social exchange and must drag this kind of ancient and archaic rethoric into the headlines in order to attempt to grab some air time. Just plain sad.

The Men at Work signs was really absurd. It has always been that way and the human race has always been refered to as "man". Woman has man in it because we are all together here.

That ladies little tantrum is going to cost the tax payers a ton of money for those little signs. The state is replacing all of them ASAP and we are talking about major $$$ to do so. $$$ that citizens could have kept or money that could have gone to schools, instead it is being blown on new signs so this nazi woman does not get offended. Even if they had fazed it in over time as the signs wore out and were replaced, that would have been a logical and reasonable change... but oh no, that was not good enough.

I am a victim. You have hurt me by your words. I can't get past it and it is ruining my life, therefore you are going to pay and pay dearly.

We really need to start standing up to these traitors to the country. We need to put our foot down and say 'NO MORE'. Political correctness is ruining this country, and we have only seen the beginning...

The "man" thing always gets me. It comes from the Anglo-saxon "mann" which refers to a person - hence mankind etc. = men and women.

Political correctness is a way certain movements in society have of manipulating morality - moving it from a fixed and absolute to a relativist kind based on current trends and the political environment. It thus allows it to be adapted to target groups or ideas to which they are opposed, villify them, and take them down. Anyone who understands dialectical materialism will know what I am talking about.
