Default Asimov's 30 Laws of Robotics

Asimov's 30 Laws of Robotics

Tuesday, July 15, 2008 Update by Isaac Asimov

I especially think #11 is wise:

11. A robot, specifically a big, wide robot, may not pretend to be a refrigerator and then make a scary noise when a human being opens it.

31. A robot must willfully accept responsibility for hitting a human over the head knocking said human unconscious whenever said human is caught sleeping at work.

Okay, Moksha, you have gone too far this time with your tongue in cheek posts.

Asminov is a fantastic author. His Robot stories are the basis for nearly all of the sci-fi programs and movies we have been watching for the last two decades!

It is NOT 30 laws of Robotics, it is just three:
  1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Isaac Asimov Rocks! Moksha, you are too cool. Iggy, you seem like an interesting person/persons. Why don't you let us non-friends see your profile? Something to hide? Afraid of revealing too much of yourself/yourselves?

I love anything written by Isaac? So what if he was an atheist? Did you know he wrote this huge and well-done commentary on the Bible? He didn't put down those who believe, it was just a good historical secular perspective. I couldn't understand why an atheist would invest all that time and energy in doing that so I read it and it was great. He was just an incredibly intelligent person who knew everything about everything.

Some robots just don't care about any laws.

Because I am a private person. I prefer to add people as friends that I know a bit about. I don't want my personal pictures that I have on my profile floating around and available for any one and everyone to capture and use in any 'ol way. When this forum was first birthed, everyone and their third cousin was asking to be a friend, most of whom never ever posted on the forum. Take a gander at the Gallery, and see how many of the people who post their very personal pictures there you recognize on the forum. Very, very few.

In Real Life I am very select whom I count as my friends, thus this is the same here at the Forum.

Apparently the Powers to Be don't feel that there should be a way for the askee (me) to question the asker (you) when you request to be a friend. Until that happens, I will be extremely select whom I add as a friend and my profile will continue to be closed to all who are not my friends.

So, to those who have requested to be my friend and I have not responded or rejected you - that is why. I don't know you, you seldom if ever post on the forum which allows us to get to know you.

CatchTheRedeye - do you leave your home unlocked 24/7? Neither do I, same for my profile.
