Yes, he said that people can start a coal company, but that it would bankrupt them and that your electricity will go up. He said this two days ago. But that's not the point of this topic.

I supported Obama from the caucus to the final election. I don't think anyone will be telling me "I told you so" in 4 years, just as I have not done anything like that to my friends accross the isle regarding the last 8.

I am very hopeful for the next four years. I think that Obama has more of a capacity to unite this country's citizens than McCain does. I believe he appeals to a larger demographic. Obama can motivate people to move for themselves and to motivate us to work together for a better good. I do not see him making government into this gigantic monster, which has already been done under our current president. I see him refining this and hopefully puts a stop to these old guys mortgaging my and my childrens' future.
Fair enough. Thank you for answering my question honestly, though I'm still looking for the policies that won you over.

Too many people think Obama is going to CHANGE their lives. If you are one of these people, you need to realize that Obama simply doesn't have the power to change your life. Only you have that power. And you are still you. If you want your life to change, you'll have to do it yourself.

You're right funky It will probably be in one or two years. I say it's bitter-sweet because there will be an element of excitement and happiness to prove them wrong. But it will be sad because America will have fallen in the process. But don't get me wrong, I would be saying the same thing if McCain had won.

I could have sworn you asked in the opening post how this is going to affect me personally.

I did. I had to read into your reply to see it. My apologies, bud. Don't hate me.

I didn't pick him for only his policies...I chose him just as much for his character and leadership capabilities.

As far as policy goes...This will probably ruffle some feathers...

Honestly I am a fan of the tax plan, since it will benefit me. I have no trust for the uber-rich and the trickle-down effect, as I have seen it fail many many times in my working life (lots of interactions with CEOS) I have always been a strong supporter of a good middle class.
I think the minimum wage is long overdue for an increase (although I don't think it needs to take a huge jump all at once, but we should start allowing it to increase slowly and gradually).

I like most of his energy plan. I hope that these policies will finally start gaining momentum and the other wierd stuff like the clean burning coal plant issue won't work out for him.

I didn't like either of their health plans. I liked Romney's approach to the health plan the best.

I think he had a better grasp on what is going on with the economy. He spoke more to my generation and seemed to have a better investment on my generation's situations.

While I think McCain had better ideas/experience to handle the war that we are currently in and it was the only thing I aggreed with McCain on. During the debates and I just saw McCain best serving this country as one of the main guys on his advisory board. But I didn't like the rest of McCain's foreign policy.
I respect Obama for opposing the war in Iraq from the beginning (something I had done as well) and gotta say that was a big pulling point for me because to me it says that he won't be as hasty to send our men and women into battle.
I see Obama's foreign policies making us more friends than enemies overseas (something I was worried about with McCain). I see the world trusting Obama way more than McCain, which some people don't care about but I have non-American family and I have seen just how aweful our international image can be. To be the leader of the world we nee the respect and trust of much of the world...Obama won this issue hands down over McCain for me.

But like I said before...either were a better option than Bush.

I disagree. I see most people being very realistic about just what a president can and cannot do. However a strong leader can motivate and move people to make those changes for themselves and their communities...something Bush failed to accomplish hands down. A strong ability to inspire...that is my hope for Obama.
