Obama's victory--how will this affect you?
So we are all from different backgrounds and stations in life. Some of us are starting out in life, some are full time students, some of us are business owners, some of us are retiring and on a fixed income, etc.
What is your story and how will Barack Obama's policies affect you and your personal situation for better or for worse? Please be objective.

No answers from the Obama supporters? Come on, I see folks celebrating his victory. Why did you vote for him and why are you celebrating his victory. How will you benefit? What policy or policies won you over? I want to understand.
As for me, my small business will be taxed more. I'm not Joe the plumber, but I am a licensed contractor who's business can conceivable gross $250k (the taxable and redistributable amount) in revenue but a huge chunk of that covers expenses, paying my employees (when I had them), purchasing and maintaining equipment, supplies, etc. all just to keep my doors open.
I will now be forced to raise all my prices, hire fewer employees and pay them less. I've always believed in paying someone what they're worth, but now this will cut my miniscule profit margin typically used to build my business, which typically ends up being spent on overhead costs anyway and I will have to work harder and longer hours so that I can afford my own salary so that I can pay my own bills. I am sure I will now have to figure out a way to afford health care costs for my employees when I hire again to meet the future demands of my business.
Or I may be forced to close my doors for good and find a job that I can qualify for in my field. I've already had to go work for someone else earning fast food restaurant wages. If the market doesn't pick back up, I may lose my home, too. I'm a professional in a field that has died. We'll see what happens. I'm not giving up yet. My entrepreneurial spirit is not broken. I will continue to work hard and hope I can keep what I earn.

I was trying to tell yall Republicans out there that you were nominating the wrong dude! Serves you right!!!!!
I'm just glad a brother is in the white house!!!!!
Beyond that, the fact that he is under the thumb of the CFR has me confident that change will be more of the same changes that have been happening for a long time.

I'm not Republican and I didn't vote for McCain in the primaries.

I don't see why alot of people are offended by Obama winning. Personally, I think it's interesting to see that some people can wait years without even voting, voting for the first time in this pres. election.
I heard people at work and here saying that it'll be the end of the world with this, but it's not. I really think that some people need to understand that the world is different than what they think. For one, try learning from the person him or herself before passing judgement on them. I see people doing this, and I see the same thing that was done to Joseph Smith and yet people eat up what they are told by another person about this person. It's like people are too lazy to find things out for themselves. I hope that people will grow up and understand that we are Americans, and we should stand together and be strong. Not by cutting down the differences we have, but by building on the common goals we all have. We are all God's children, and we should treat each other as such.

Psycho, I am not offended that he won, and I have offered my goodwill and prayers for him already. But I have yet to see my question answered by anyone who voted for him so that I can be enlightened.

Did anyone hear about Obama saying that he would bankrupt companies before letting another coal-fired power plant to go online? If he can't convince the anti-nuke people to back off, we're in big trouble when it comes to electricity. I'm also afraid $4.00 gas is probably back on the table.

Vague answer...
I gotta say that I was very dissapointed with the work of our current president, and I was looking for a candidate that was clearly not the same. And to be honest I thought either McCain or Obama would do a better job than Bush.
I am very hopeful for the next four years. I think that Obama has more of a capacity to unite this country's citizens than McCain does. I believe he appeals to a larger demographic. Obama can motivate people to move for themselves and to motivate us to work together for a better good. I do not see him making government into this gigantic monster, which has already been done under our current president. I see him refining this and hopefully puts a stop to these old guys mortgaging my and my childrens' future.
Now I HOPE that he is able to do the following but I don't know how anyone can accomplish this...I want someone that will stop the corruption of large corporations (off shore accounts and the like) and the non-productivity on capitol hill. I want someone to eliminate the sense of entitlement and greed that very well could bring this nation to it's knees. I want someone to completely unite us as a people instead of "republicans are psycho rich white people who cling to their religion" and "democrats are in bed with the devil and go drunk with power". Both parties right now I see as corrupt, and I hope that image changes over the next 4 years.

Yeah. Either way America is on it's last leg. The problem is that neither candidate wanted to fix the problem. They only wanted to fix the symptoms. It will be a bitter-sweet day when I'll be able to look in the face of Obama Supporters and say, "I told you so."
