They've picked up almost 300 votes in the last two days! At this rate, they'll have their four million votes in only 78 years, which is a mere blink of an eye on a geologic time scale.

The reason everybody else in the world is concerned is because America is involved in every countries business. Just last week high ranking government officials visited and laid the hard word on our leaders here in New Zealand that if we didn't support the war in Afganistan then USA will not be there for us. What the .....nice bully tactics!!! I believe that is wrong!

Agreed. I hate America's general foreign policy of "be the world's policemen!" when we have waaaay to many problems taking care of our own.
In 1898, Spain ruled the world. Before that it was Britain. There was China. There was Rome... In a millenia of history, there has always been WORLD POWERS.

In 1898, America defeated Spain and took ownership of the Philippines among others. BUT, In 1935, America signed the Tydings-McDuffie Act in Washington DC that outlined a plan for Philippine Independence! UNHEARD OF! How can that be? A world power that actually wants to GIVE independence??? Since WHEN has it happened? Before that time, you're either strong, or a land nobody wants, or you get colonized! The Philippines was under Spanish oppression for THREE CENTURIES!

AMERICA GAVE EVERY COUNTRY THE COURAGE TO SAY, "You big bad wolf, stay away from my door!". UNTIL TODAY. AMERICA is the reason little teenie countries like Georgia can remain autonomous. AND THE REASON WHY NEW ZEALAND can say, "Stay away from our business".

I LOVE AMERICA. I LOVE WHAT SHE STANDS FOR. IT IS THE BEACON OF HOPE, THE LAND OF THE FREE, THE HOME OF THE PROPHETS OF THESE LATTER-DAYS.

Now, Americans - keep it that way!

I agree. America was great. America was brave. We need to become so again. We need to stand up to the government and tell them 'Get thee hence'. Demand that they return to the government that was such a model for the world. For, they have FAR exceeded that creature and become a beast. IMHO

Those are really good points. I'll have to think about those...

I agree with you in general that the US should return to a more isolationist stance. But frankly, the threat of "not being there" for New Zealand wouldn't mean a heckuvalot to you folks if the New Zealanders hadn't gotten accustomed to all the perks that its relationship with the US has hitherto brought it.

There were also websites such as sorryeverybody.com, about Bush being re-elected. I do think that if Obama was white, there would be less hatred of him.

I doubt it. I don't think Obama's getting a much rougher time of it than Bill Clinton got (or his wife would be, had she clinched the Democratic nomination).

IMHO this bit about "you'd agree with Obama if he weren't black" is, on the whole, just another Alinsky-esque attempt to marginalize the President's ideological opponents. It's easy to be "bipartisan" once you've gotten the other party to shut up.

I don't. It's his stupid policies that have me so upset. I couldn't care less what his race is. I think it's strange how people who agree with Obama are the first ones to pull the race card. Maybe they are the racists, not the people who dare speak out against out-of-control spending.

Also, people hate the white George Bush. His whiteness hasn't taken any of the sting out of the hatred heaped upon him.

I wonder if George Bush was black he would have been treated differently?

My guess would be nicer.
