Default President Monson: Most Powerful Octogenarian in America

As per Slate. Interesting to see what other individuals were on that list.

Doesn't seem to be much reason to the rankings. I mean Jack Kevorkian (with the power to help terminally ill people kill themselves) trumps a formula president of the USA.

What a neat article. I had no idea that some of the people on the list were still alive. Yea for seniors!!!

Since I'm at work and can't see the article, what is a 'formula president'? Is it an old race car driver, or what?

B.B. King and Pres. Monson on the same list: serendipity.

Is it wrong that the title of the thread made me immediately think of the songs from the musical Les Miserable detailing when Valjean lifted the wagon off one man (titled: The Runaway Cart) and the confrontation between Valjean and Javert (titled creatively enough: Confrontation)? The lines would be, "A man your age, to be as strong as you are..." and "There is power in me yet, my race is not yet run!", from The Runway Cart and Confrontation respectively.

Default Congrats to President Thomas S. Monson - #1 in 80+ Year Olds

I'm sure President Thomas S. Monson would wince at being called the #1 most "powerful" octogenarian in America, but it's a nice tribute to a man who millions look to as their spiritual guide!

Actually it isn't Kervorkian. It is Kirk Kerkokian, who, according to Wiki, is the richest man in Los Angeles.
