I actually have nothing against her story. I'm glad she was able to discover how much of a tragedy abortion is. I'm just disagree that it qualifies as evidence that the pro-life position is the superior position.

Ms. Johnson's testimony about the pressure to increase the number of abortions is troubling. It will be interesting to see if this bears out, since one of the pro-choice wing's constant refrains is "it isn't about the money".
Any organization that promotes abortion over prevention will never see an ounce of my support. I may be pro-choice, but I want to teach people to choose life.

I noticed it earlier actually. Is someone close to you expecting or is it just random?

"95% of women who see the ultrasound change their minds and choose life."
I never argued that statistic, although I'm willing to bet it's highly overestimated.

PP trying to keep people from seeing their ultrasounds. "Women who were having abortions were never allowed to see the ultrasound."
This quote was given by Joseph Randall, who discontinued performing abortions in 1983. Ultrasounds weren't common until after the mid-1980's. There wasn't a conspiracy to prevent women from seeing ultra sounds at the time...they weren't available. It's a misleading statement by a dishonest hack.

I'm sorry, my body, I get to see the picts you are taking of my body. Everyone needs to understand exactly what that doc will be doing. Hiding information from people in order to talk them into getting abortions is wrong.
No one ever argued that you didn't get to see them. What they've argued is that they shouldn't be required to show them.

Why not? Drunk drivers are required to watch vids of car crashes, why not force those who screwed up watch the results of what they are contemplating?

Not only do they not show them, they don't even offer to show them.

Most abortions are not done to save the mother's life, or after a rape. Most are done after people being careless. Careless people need to understand consequences, they need it pushed in their face so they know what they are doing.

When unprotected sex becomes a crime, then sure, you can impose such penalties. But I would first require you to pass a law against unprotected sex.

Ah, now that's a different animal. I have no problem with requiring that the patient be offered the opportunity to see the ultrasound. But it's a ludicrous over-reaction to say, "You don't offer to show the ultrasound, so you should forced to show it."

This is a gross mischaracterization of the women having abortions. Women who have abortions are disproportionately poor, black or hispanic, uneducated, and have no access to health care or birth control. Most of them don't know any better and are as terrified of the abortion as they are of raising the child. Saying that they are careless is sloppy, rude, and ignorant.

I think unprotected sex between unwed individuals should be a crime. I think I'll write a letter to my state rep

Well, let's educate them then! Show them the vids - in HS - or earlier as part of their sex-ed class!

PS. - they would have access to birth control if Planned Parenthood was doing what they claim.

I think they are careless. I mean if you are old enough to have sex, you know. The "poor, (I don't want to make it a race issue) uneducated" know the results of careless sex better than anyone I would imagine, wouldn't you? Seeings how many of them come from homes in which they have to deal with the results of careless sex each day of their life.

Well, as long as you recognize the need for 'mother's little helper', you're going in the right direction.

Hah! Good luck with that. I bet he'd put it on a bulletin board for laughs with the staff or darts during happy hour.

The former; I'm going to be a daddy (again) next July. The pic is of my first daughter when she was about a month along, back in 2006.
