Default Drug Lord on Forbes List

Reputed Mexican drug lord on Forbes most-powerful list - CNN.com

I don't know..Should drug kings be put on this list? Doesn't it kind of glamorize that life? Especially when he is a fugutive?

I can see why they put him on that list. But I don't think that makes it right. I agree with you, the media shouldn't glamorize someone who has devoted their life to crime.

Kim Jong is on there so is Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hoseyni Khāmene’i.

If they put dictators who have people tortured and killed for opposing them i don't think a drug kingpins too far out there.

It's unfortunate that those who are most powerful or famous and those who should be looked up to and emulated are rarely the same.

Pablo Escobar was on it back in the late 80's early 90's. So i'm not surprised.

This list is a good example of why power and money aren't always a positive thing.

Unfortunately, he is one of the richest people in the world, which gives him power. I'm not an advocate of censorship and removing him from the list because of how he obtained the money/power would be censorship. The list is supposed to be a list of the worlds most powerful/rich/influential and if he falls into one of those categories them I'm afraid I believe he should still be listed - it's not supposed to just be a list of good people.

We need to remember that President Thomas Monson was just recently picked as the most powerful person in the world for those over 80 years.

Mexican government was upset that Forbes would recognize him too. They did not like the fact that it would make it look like a good thing to be a drug lord.
