At another stop, in Atlantic, Michelle said she travels with her husband in part "to model what it means to have family values," adding "if you can't run your own house, you can't run the White House." She didn't elaborate, but it could be interpreted as a swipe at the Clintons[/b]

Ouch! Is this a reference to Hillary neglecting her duties as a wife? Personally, I believe many Americans sympathize with Bill's, well...problems and feel that it may stem from his home life. What do people think here?

I think it's nonsense. If Bill were still working and Hillary were the one without a job no one would even think twice about that.

Both Hillary and Michelle are accomplished women and above "cat fights." Indeed, if they get stuck with that label, it will be because they do the things every candidate needs to do to win a race, but because they're women, the double standard will kick and people like, hmmm, Fiannin, will be yelling "CATFIGHT"!!!! :P

After reading the story about Michelle, I think the reporter is searching for a thread he can grasp to pull a sweater apart. There is no thread and the sweater is safe. I think Michelle sincerely meant what she said.

I've said it here before and I'll say it again. This country would be incredibly lucky to have Michelle Obama as its First Lady. Below is her resume from the Obama campaign website:

Michelle was born on January 17, 1964, to Marian and Fraser Robinson on Chicago's South Side and graduated from Whitney M. Young Magnet High School in Chicago's West Loop.

After high school Michelle went on to Princeton University where in 1985 she graduated with a B.A. in sociology and a minor in African American studies. After college, Michelle continued her education at Harvard Law School, where she earned her degree in 1988.

For three years after law school, Michelle worked as an associate in the area of marketing and intellectual property at Chicago law firm Sidley and Austin, where she met Barack Obama. She left the corporate law world in 1991 to pursue a career in public service, serving as an assistant to the mayor and then as the assistant commissioner of planning and development for the City of Chicago.

In 1993, she became the founding executive director of Public Allies, a leadership training program that received AmeriCorps National Service funding and helped young adults develop skills for future careers in the public sector.

Michelle began her involvement with the University of Chicago in 1996. As associate dean of student services, she developed the University's first community service program.

Michelle also served as executive director of community and external affairs until 2005, when she was appointed vice president of community and external affairs at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She also managed the business diversity program.

Michelle has fostered the University of Chicago's relationship with the surrounding community and developed the diversity program, making them both integral parts of the Medical Center's mission.

Barack, Michelle and their two daughters Malia, 9, and Sasha, 6, live on the south side of Chicago, where they attend Trinity United Church of Christ.
---------------------

I am especially impressed with her community service as well as her law office experience. She is an incredibly accomplished woman and doesn't need to take swipes at Hillary when she clearly has a family of her own to take care of and be proud of.

Who said she was making reference to Hillary's education or work? I think a lot of people are interpreting this to mean...well, you know.

Not me. I was showing what an accomplished and amazing woman Michelle Obama is, and like I clearly said, how lucky we would be to have her as a First Lady. If you read more into it than that, that's not my fault. You've already demonstrated your sexist bias with your "Cat Fight" coments. You would never say two men of comparable accomplishments are in a "Cat Fight!"

No, I don't. Tell me what they're interpreting it to mean. Actually, don't bother. I already know what you think, and it says more about you than it does about them.

Oh com'on now, chill out Elphaba. If you really want a good laugh look up (on google) "Chris Rock Bigger and Blacker Hillary". It's a riot (my wife surprised me by adding the entire monologue to our MP3 players and I practially had to stop running that day due to how funny Chris Rock's routine was.

And if you are so impressed by Obama's wife's credentials I am sure you are just as much a fan of Condolesa Rice. Right?

I am utterly wowed by Condoleeza Rice's accomplishments prior to 2001. Seriously, totally away and completely impressed.

Also, did you know she was a friend of Denise McNair, one of the little girls who died in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama on September 15, 1963? I choke up looking at the bigger picture, where haters killed these little girls because of their abhorrent beliefs, and a half century later one of their friends is our Secretary of State. I think that is a miracle.

But then, I"m saddened and completely underwhelmed. Rice had a chance to be great, and instead she was an ineffectual National Security Advisor, partially culpable for the lack of attention she paid to information passed along to her by the Clinton administration.

Now, as Secretary of State, I see her as practically non-existant. I see none of her spectacular intelligence that I know is there, and it saddens me. She appears to me as a non-entity who can't seem to come up with any compelling or innovative ideas on her own. Instead, she desperately travels to Syria after she vilifies Nancy Pelosi for doing to the same thing. She is best known for taking care of her president, including lying for him, and nothing else. What a loss.

Ok, I'm chillin'. :P But, I can't find it! I can find a transctript, but not the playback. I love Chris Rock, so I will keep looking for it. Thanks for the heads up!

Why? You don't think she can take it?

Nobody should be attacking anyone, but unfortunately attacking works in political campaigns. What would be inappropriate is to attack a candidate's race or gender.

But Hillary is certainly capable of holding her own, whether the criticisms come from a man or a woman. I think she's already proven that by being elected to the Senate not once, but twice. I actually think it would be an insult if the men were to hold back because she's a woman.
