Pam, don't want to rain on your parade, but....looking into the future things look pretty gloomy and downright scary. If you read some of the last days prophecies by the Presidents of the Church, we've got some pretty nasty stuff heading towards us.

While in the overall picture, this is a great and wonderful thing because it means we're much closer to the second coming of Christ, it does signal some pretty drastic issues.....as in the statement "and the saints shall hardly escape".

If we take the easy course and say that we have been active all our life, lived the commandments, tithing, food storage, home teaching.....etc. it still doesn't mean we are home free as to the calaminties that will engulf us. Life as we know it now isn't going to be around for much longer.

Quoting from Pres. Packers authorized version of the talk he gave in his home ward..."it is time the Lord taught us a lesson. there is so much wickedness in the world, so much greed and avarice and mischief. You wonder if he could get to us without shaking us up a bit. As I have said a time or two in looking over the world, I do not see how we are going to get through this." [sounds pretty traumatic to me] "It is coming now, naturally and otherwise, but this is the only thing that will wake us up. What I am saying to you is to wake and to tell you what to do when you wake up." He goes on the touch on the things that will get us through, not necessary preserve the lifestyles we are living now.

The members of the Church need to wake up, especially the youth and young adults of the Church. Now, if you read the unauthorized version (recorded by a sister in his ward for the shut-ins to hear the talks, and then transcribed) he says a "catastrophy is coming" which was eliminated from the authorized version.

While a great attitude is wonderful and something we should all have, we need to be aware of our freedoms being eroded, our constitution being flung out the door, and prepare ourselves for hard choices in the future. The light at the end of the tunnel, the coming of the Savior. I will gladly survive to see Him come in His glory.

Not raining on my parade at all. I don't choose the quotes.

By the same token we also know what happens at the end of all that gloom. A glorious day of rejoicing. So even among all the doom and gloom we can still see some light knowing what we know.

Amen to that. I wonder what it will be like, in the millenium, with absolutely no evil? No greed, avarice, lies, all of which will disappear!
