I joined in 2000, but fell away as i was the only single mom in the ward, with the closest other ward being 9 hours away. I felt like people judged me and were not really accepting. I had two little girls at the time and divorced from a cheating husband. I had a lot of questions about the church and was at the time a scholar, so i looked into things very deeply, perhaps too deeply as it undermined my new and shaky faith. I wish i had not have left. Our lives would have turned out so much better had we stayed. I am happy to be back now however. I have 4 children now, and am carrying a 5th. My husband and I am separated and he very much dislikes the church. He gets a real horrible ugly look on his face when i mention anything about it. My bishop suggested i do the gospel discussions over, so i am doing that. I do not really need them, but my children do, so i am happy about it. I wonder if i have to be rebaptized too, hmmm. I should find that out. So i am trying to help my children understand the church. My 13 yr old is not very happy about the strictness of things, but she will come around, i hope It is nice to be part of this community. I am looking forward to a good growth experience. I am a 19-year-old female and I was recently baptized! I love being a member of the church. I have a question though....since I am so young (and still single) will the church expect me to pay tithing? I am a very dedicated college student, and I do have a job, but most of the money I make goes towards my monthly rent. I wanted to introduce myself. I have been on many differnet LDS forums and love the fun you can have on them. My interests definately include preparedness. I even own a preparedness business where I do tons of different group buys for wards, stakes, and social groups. It's been a good experience. I do not know what the rules are for advertising and I do not want to come across as a salesman lol. But if you ever want a group buy on any products I carry. Or if you are interested in something I do not carry, I will be happy to help. Just pm me and I will do what I can to help. But I am here first and foremost to enjoy the community :) I also enjoy politics alot and ancient hebrew languages.

I want to preface this by saying that I am not Mormon. I grew up a Baptist. I went to church almost every Sunday. Later in high school I converted to Catholicism. With such a background I grew up with some pretty anti-Mormon beliefs. I had simply been hardwired to believe that Mormonism is a "cult." I heard it from all angles.

About six months ago I left Christianity all together. I was let down by it (a long long story I felt used and abused by Christianity) and just decided to leave. I was atheist for awhile. Well now I feel a draw back to Christianity. And for some reason (that I honestly don't know) I feel drawn to Mormonism. Something, or perhaps Someone is telling me to check it out. I did try the online chat at Mormon.org and that just hasn't worked. I tried the 1-800 number and was ultimately letdown by the cold, corporate feel I got by it. Not to mention I got an answer once, and the guy told me to "hold for one minute" and then he hung up or something.

However, I am not discouraged. I really want some answers. That is why I am here. I am here to learn and perhaps one day convert, who knows? I want to thank everyone in advance for thoughtful answers.

I was just barely called as the YW Pres. in our ward. The bishopric is strongly suggesting that we as a YM/YW organization do this fundraiser. Purchasing and putting together flags, and collecting monies, to post on members lawns during particular holidays. We are a little unsure. Have you done it? Pros and cons? Cons from our YM Pres. Some holidays will be schooldays. We as leaders may not be able to holiday. By displaying theflag on certain lawns only your saying who donated and who didnt. He has spoken to many leaders who say they end up doing it themselves because kids wont.
