General Conference
I am curious to see what all of you do for General Conference....do you have any family traditions??? where do you go to watch General Conference????
On saturday we usually watch it at home. I go to our meetinghouse to watch the Priesthood session. The Sisters from both wards usually feed us before the Priesthood session. We always provide a meal for the Sisters prior to the General relief Society Broadcast.
On Sunday we go to my Mother in law's home and watch Conference there.

Depending on church commitments, wife would DVR record the conference. Usually on Monday or Sunday night, we would sit together and watch conference.

We get to sleep in, then maybe go camping for the weekend. We do the same thing with Stake Conference and Ward Conference (unless we have speaking assignments at either).
I find it absolutely impossible to concentrate on Conference with kids running around. I prefer to read it at night when they're all asleep and I can really study what's written.
Its' the same with Stake Conference. Also, there's the price of even getting to Stake Conference in gas, etc...
As for Ward Conference, there's just no way on earth to sit through nearly three straight hours of a meeting with kids.
So, we have three weekends a year when we're "off". I'm thinking probably I'll be chided for this, eh?

We have tried to listen at home, but it doesn't register with the kids that it is a special time, so we have started going to the church. With so many people watching it at home, there is hardly anyone there and it's not the traffic nightmare it used to be, plus we have a lot of seats to choose from! Between sessions on Saturday, we go out to lunch. Sunday we try to eat something yummy at home between sessions. My husband says after priesthood session, the guys usually go out for ice cream. I found this out when he came home with it on his shirt.
I'm really excited for conference!

Which Church you go to? Ward conference has the same scheduled block as always. Sacrament, Sunday School, RS/Priesthood/YW-YM. In every Branch/Ward I have been in, the Stake Leaders take over and teach the classes. Loved that when I was in Primary, learned not only the lesson, but also other ways to present interesting lessons for the children!

Yeah, Ward Conference is pretty much the same. One hour sacrament, the kids go to class, we have a combined meeting with the adults.
Stake Conference is very frustrating with children because we get stuck in the metal chairs unless we're really early, but we don't really want to be there with them longer than 2 hours. This time I'm singing with the choir and I'll have a nice comfy seat. Ahhhhhhhhh .....

I have just returned to the church and have been lucky enough to be able to attend conference in the Conference Center. This year I have volunteered to usher for conference.

not sure we have to go into the building for 10am on Sunday -I remember my first General Conference it was I have to confess the most awful boring experience, it was 2 weeks after baptism, we were through in our Stake Conference which has the Worlds most uncomfy pews, and it went on for 7 hours without a break -when I confided to a Sister I was bored she said oh no you can't feel that way the spirit is so strong. I have never quite got over it lol
I think this year we will take the kids out for a meal on the Saturday at a place with a soft play centre and if weather is nice do a picnic in the park on the Sunday -the 9pm-11pm session will do at home
