Group Story - Collaborative Effort
I'd like to try something. A variation on the "Three Word Story" game, but not so silly.
What I would like to do is try and create a story. Each person who contributes will take the story in a certain direction. Whatever that person "feels" is the next logical thing to say or do (in their mind). The story can include humor, but I want the humor to be appropriate and not silly. For this project to be effective, you will need to spend a few minutes reading and getting a feeling for the story before you post.
Please only contribute if you are reasonably serious about this project.
Write as little or as much as you want, but please write at least one full sentence. Each time you post, please copy what the last person wrote, so that the story accumulates with each post and so new contributors can read through the entire story by reading the last post, instead of having to read through all the responses to get the full story. Bold your contribution, leaving the past contributions as normal text. Feel free to make small changes if you feel it necessary in order to make the story flow better (as you will see in my second post, where I change the period into a comma and add the text " , with the cane in his right hand."
I will make the first few posts to show you what I have in mind for this project!
I will serve as the Editor in case any conflicts arise, or if I feel there is a need to check grammar or spelling (and I welcome the same).
Let's begin!
An old man with a cane made his way up the street.

I love to write! I'm in, tomk! If I may also edit for grammar, redundancy etc.

Oops, Hemidakota beat me. But he didn't fill in the story either.

Uh, sure.
Hemi, if you will allow me some license here, I'll integrate your contribution into the story as well. Remember to copy and paste the entire story each time, bolding your new addition.

As thoughts often do, Sara's thoughts wandered back to another time, years ago, when she had looked out of the very same window and had observed a dark figure with no physical body under the lamp post, staring back at her. She shivered as she recalled this memory. The apparition had not been seen since, but somehow she felt the encounter held some dark purpose, yet to be understood.

Sara, being deep in thought, was startled when she heard a knock at the door. Who would be coming by this early, she wondered. She hesitantly left the window, feeling somewhat releived by the intrusion. She didn't hated when those old feelings came back. Looking through the peep hole she was surprised to see her boyfriend, Caleb, standing their shivering in the wind.

She quickly opened the door, and let him inside. She could feel the cool of his cheek against hers as they embraced. He was cold!
"I'm surprised to see you today, Caleb" Sara said. "I thought you still had a few more exams to take."
Caleb grinned. "I finished them earlier than expected. I guess I was prepared for my exams, for once."
Sara laughed at this. "Finishing a test early like that means one of two things..." she teased.
