Actually no. There is neither biological or scriptural precident for society to adopt such a stance. However, we seem to be going in that direction and it would only take someone who supports it in the White House next year to appoint several justices to the supreme court to make sure that gay marriage was allowed. Ironic since just about every society/civilization on earth has allowed polygamy -- some still allowing it as in the case of Muslim nations, India, Bhutan, etc. Often it's regulated -- you can legally only have two wives in Bhutan and four in Islamic nations that allow it. And the God of the Bible established polygamy as okay no matter how people try to perform scriptural gymnastics to either say it's immoral or that it was only under special situations.
Now if we look at this from a biological point of view polygamy makes perfect sense since life is based on the concept of acquiring food to survive as well as spreading your genes. It makes sense for males since the assumption is that those who are healthiest and able to provide shelter for more than one woman would pass thier genes on more -- ot makes sense for females since marriage laws today are an artificial construct that actually prevents a good number of women from gaining husbands or gaining good quality husbands. It also makes sense for women since having other wives in the household potentially provides for a more stable environment to raise offspring (when one feels stressed out others can lighten her load -- and visa versa on other days which may be the reason women living with other women biologically regulate reproductive cycles subconsciously through pheremones).
Polygamy makes way more sense then than allowing gay marriage.
