FAMILY PROBLEMS...any advice?

A comment about Tough Love. In our own situation, we found our son to be very manipulative and much smarter at masking his dependency on drugs and alchol than we were at dealing with it. Finally, after many failures at this because we wanted to believe in him and did not want to bust up our family, we reached the conclusion that we were only enabling him to continue his self destruction. When we finally decided we loved him enough to allow him to make his own choices. We never stopped loving him but continuted to allow him hope that he could return if he overcome his demons. He finally hit bottom. But keep in mind, sadly some kids choose to continue to use drugs and/or alchohol and end up dieing from it despite the parents best efforts to prevent it.
