The adage "You can't tell a book by it"s cover" is certainly true here.
Kenny was once with the Tommy Dorcey band as a singer. He was said to be good looking and took over when Frank Sinatra left the group. He later sang with "The Son's Of The Pioneers". All western music fans will remember them. They were founded by Leonard Slye (Roy Rogers) in the thirties. Kenny was with them from 49-53. They had such western hits as "Cool Water", "Happy Trails To You", "Ghost Riders In The Sky" and many more.
Eventhough he started as a singer, we know him for another reason. We know Ken Curtis as deputy marshall Festus Hagan on "Gunsmoke".
I would never have thought him to be a "crooner".
I enjoy finding little tidbits of information on people in the old TV shows. For example, the little boy that played Whitey on "Leave It To Beaver" got involved with drugs and died a few years ago on Skid Row in LA.

Anyone else have interesting information on these performers of the past. I don't know anything about todays stars because I don't watch any network shows. I guess you know you're getting old when you look in Peoples Magazine and ask "Who are these people"
