Truly a great read. I think it's her best (and she's always very good) in a long time.

Americans feel the pinch and have felt it from both Republicans and Democrats for several years now. We used to think there was a way to work through the problems. Now we don't.

She notes that instead of new ideas to truly fix things, they are just plying new money to old ideas. Old ideas that didn't work well (or at all) in the first place.

I fear for our country, not because the people are terrible, but because our leaders are callous idiots abusing the power of office.

Politicians will always follow the two great commandments:
Thou shalt get elected
Thou shalt remain elected

Until someone figures out how to follow these commandments by doing only good things, everyone will continue just doing what works. And that involves understanding attention spans, manipulating media cycles, and spin.
