Default "Fiddler on the Roof" moment -- I just noticed something!

Tevye's third daughter, Chava (Hebrew name rendered in English as "Eve"), was lost to him because she -- wait for it -- partook of the forbidden fruit in marrying a Christian.

Obviously this was intentional, but I never noticed it until now.

Tevye and Golde have been role models for me and my wife, as we try to have a happy and eternal marriage. And also, after 5 years, I still love my signature.

The scene with Chava and Tevye at the train stop is so heartbreaking. Moreso since I have 4 daughters of my own. Neither I nor DH can watch that movie, and especially that scene, without clouding up at least a little bit.

Okay, I may or may not ugly sob. Don't judge me.

"Then you love me!"
"...I suppose I do."
"And I suppose I love you, too."

Pretty sure that was Tevye with his second daughter, Hodel, who married the (Jewish) radical. Chava was the one who ran off with the Christian boy, and whom Tevye subsequently disowned.

D'oh! I thought he sang the "Little bird, little Chavala" song as the train pulled away. I guess I need to watch it again!
