Default New Study: 1 in 10 Marriages are Interracial

I saw this on television and found it a little surprising.

Interracial Marriage: 1 In 10 American Marriages Are Mixed, Census Reveals

One in 10 American marriages are between partners of a different race or ethnicity, according to data released on Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Having grown up in California, I don't find this suprising at all.

Now if I had grown up in Utah, I would be very surprised at the high statistics.

Well of my 8 kids one is an interracial marriage. I do object to the term though since there is no such thing as race. Mixed skin tone marriages is more accurate and as stupid sounding as it actually is.

I did not marry another race, though I'll concede that an interracial marriage was the product of my sacred union.

probably the idea that we're all of one human race, and that skin tone differences are just that, not anything indicative of something that would warrant breaking humanity down into different racial components.

I happen to agree with this particular world view, but until we get there, we will see many more horrible things done/said because of our differences rather good things done/said because of our common ground.

We are all one human species, but there are demonstrable genetic differences between races.

There are different races...cultures...socio-economic statuses, and perspectives, religions, skin complexions, hobbies, political viewpoints...oh the list could go on for so long. Frankly, race probably belongs low-to-middling in importance.

Of course, what trumps it all is being led by the Spirit, and in receiving the "holy yes" before we join together in holy matrimony.

No there is not. I thought so. I was taught so. It just aint so. There are genetic differences between different groups of people but not by the so called standard races. Skin color isnt even a reliable characteristic. There isnt a reliable characteristic to determine races at all. We have been conned to set people apart by race and it is just a big lie.

Not so, anne. The traditional "races" do indeed show certain genetic tendencies and markers. This should not surprise us, though, as the different "races" represent very extended and intermixed families, which would obviously tend to have common gene groupings. It is merely political correctness run amok to suggest otherwise, due to the idea of "races" being unfashionable these days.
