Default Pragmatism (MM podcast)

For those of you of a philosophical bent, I was just wondering if any of you have listened to the Mormon Matters podcast about the philisophical method known as "pragmatism", as put forth by William James? Mormon Matters Episodes 102-103: Pragmatism, William James, and Mormon Sensibilities. I haven't quite finished listening to it yet, but did get into the second part where they discuss how James's ideas about temperament might apply to the Council in Heaven, and it's interesting!

I've been looking for good mormon podcasts. I'll check this out, thanks.

Mormon Matters podcasts are pretty leftist, aren't they?

bds, I'll forewarn you. Mormon Matters and Mormon Stories might be characterized as freethinking and heterodox. Some of the participants (panelists or interviewees) may be believing, active LDS folks. Others are still in the Church, but have questions or doubts. Still others may have left the Church. They ask questions and discuss things in a way you won't hear in Sunday School. Some people may consider that a bad thing. I rather enjoy it, and find it uplifting and educational. So it kind of depends on your temperament and way of viewing things whether or not you'll like these podcasts.

There's only one way to find out--listen to an episode or two!

Dan Wotherspoon produces Mormon Matters. I have no idea what political views he has.

But if I were to hazard a guess as to the politics of the majority of interviewees, panelists, and audience members, yes, I'd guess more are left-wing than right-wing. But that's just a guess.

Most of the episodes themselves are not about politics, but rather about "things Mormon," from theology, to history, to culture. One episode I enjoyed was #62: "A Christmas Primer: Exploring the Nativity in Scripture, Legend, History, and Hearts." A more recent one (#s 94-95) was about understanding suicide.
