Default postpartum recovery

this took me 8 yrs to figure out.... i'm finally re-discovering me. i wish i had known this sooner. it may as well be my story. maybe it will help someone else.

Postpartum Recovery

Many women share the health history of symptoms that began postpartum, sometimes remaining unresolved for decades after giving birth. Dr. Raffelock examines the reasons why this happens, explains the importance of replenishing nutrients and hormones, and acknowledges the validity of women's observations regarding their own symptoms.

This is interesting! I feel like since my last baby I don't even recognize my body or even my emotional tendancies. And I hate it when you go to the Gynie and all your test results come back normal!. So frustrating.

I must admit, I lost faith in the article when it mentioned natural bio-identical hormones and that was after they mentioned that most women around the world in the past ate placenta....

The main thing I noticed from having babies was my teeth deteriorating. Prior to kids I had four fillings, one in my most far back molars. When I was 2 months pregnant I went to the dentist and everything looked good. Fast forward one year, 9 cavities, 6 months later, 8 cavitites, a year later, 9 more cavities. I have so many fillings now!

i was always told my blood work was "normal" but they only tested for a few things (mostly thyroid).

i was the case where everything was spiraling out of control, i was falling apart and when i complained to a dr all i got was an antidepressant tossed to me, or told to exercise more. back in june i finally found a dr that did the blood work, tested my vitamin levels, hormone levels, everything you can test for in the blood (if they only take 1 or 2 viles of blood they aren't running many tests, the doc i see now took 14 viles on the first visit). for a few months i was on about 20 pills a day. got all the stuff mentioned in the article and then some; b's, magnesium, calcium, d, etc. natural stuff, and a few bio-identical hormones (like they talk about in the article). in the last 4 months i am feeling like me again. i can actually exercise, make it through the day without wanting to kill anyone, depression has lifted, periods are finally normal, i've lost 50 lbs, the fatigue has gone. i'm finding me again. i've gotten most of my vitamins and such to good levels so i'm not on near as many pills. once treating causes instead of symptoms happened i've been amazed at how fast things are happening. of course i'm watching what i eat and exercising my tail off too. the exercise i did before only made things worse for me cause my body wasn't healthy enough for exercise. now i can and it does all the things exercise is supposed to do.

anyway, i guess it was nice to read it in the article even if i didn't have it sooner. validates all i have been going through and all i've been thinking and feeling about it from a medical standpoint instead of my uneducated opinion. lets me know that all i've been going through wasn't just me being lazy, this was a real medical issue that needed real answers.

i think she is listed as a family dr (i have to travel about 4 hours to see her) but she seems to focus on treating hormone issues and weight loss (in men and women). then she has her spa services as well.

It's common practice still in some cultures. It's not just in the past.
