Question Multi-Quotes

I was trying to do multi-quotes in a forum and I didn't know how it worked. When I click on the icon it turns red. Didn't know what to do then. I did a search on multi-quotes and nothing found.

Is there a way to store help information for members to access like the way the site rules are stored? But until then, how does the multi-quote work? What am I missing? I ended up building the quotes myself probably the hard, long way.

Hit the "Multi-Quote" button for all except the last post you want to quote. For the last one, hit the "Quote" button, and all of your multi-quoted posts will show up in the editing box for your new post.

Thanks Nate. Sorry it took long to respond back but I finally tried it again and failed again. I think I figured it out. My problem seems to be one of semantics.

When you move the pointer over the icon a popup message says "Multi-Quote this message". To me it means to make multiple quotes from just part of that one (perhaps long) message or post and not quote the entire post.

The words This Message to me means just the post that the icon is on. It really means to take multiple quotes from many posts in the thread or in other words these messages not this message. You can select one word from each post and it will copy all the words from each of those posts you select. Then you have to edit out some of the words you don't want in the quote.

Perhaps a better worded message would be "Multi-quote these posts" or "Multi-quote this thread"

I hope this post will help others who are trying to use it. It's one of those learning curves we go through. Some have bigger curves than others.

Now if I'm still not doing it properly then for the sake of me and the rest of us here, please correct me.

How do I do multi quotes?
Easy, just type in the code directly!
What code? I don't know anything about programming computers!
It isn't that hard - just take the spaces out of the "[ quote ]" commands below, and you got it.

When you view people's posts, at the bottom of each post on the right corner there are four little icons/images. There is a text that say quote, a quote mark, a feather, and a thumbs up images. If you stop your point over those images you will get a popup message. The image with the quote mark has a popup message that says "multi-quote this message". That's the one I was talking about.

Hi Loudmouth. I get this feeling you used the Quote button at the top of the edit screen where you enter your message or you typed it in by hand.

What I'm referring to the images at the lower right corner of everyone's post. When you click the quote images it puts the person's user name above each quote which is very handy. I bet you typed the quote tags yourself. Which method did you use?

Sorry but I should have explained this in more detail.

I learned something new today but I will probably forget it tomorrow
