Kind of like subscribing to magazines or the newspapers. You receive something.

Okay Seanette I found something else. At the top of the page you will see "user cp."

Under edit options there is an options in the middle of the page with a drop down menu about subscriptions. How you can subscribe but not get email notifications.

pam, that's what I tried repeatedly that failed completely.

Heather, I tried unchecking the option having to do with forums on your link. We'll see if that helps.

As an alternative, you could block the e-mail address that notifications come from. Most webmail providers usually provide a way of doing this. It's a workaround as opposed to a solution to the problem, but it works and it's something that can be done easily rather than trying to fathom how the forum software has been set up/designed to work as standard.

The disadvantage (or maybe an advanage, depending on how you look at it) is that ALL forum notifications will likely be blocked if they all come from the same alias, including ones you might actually want to receive?

Exactly so.

I can't figure out why this is so difficult on this board, when others I've been on that use the same software have no trouble with such things as turning off e-mail notifications on subscribed threads while keeping the subscription active (I'm also at a dead loss as to why "unsubscribe" isn't working from the Web).

Obviously, these functions are quite possible, since the software itself has an obvious route to achieve them, and someone new to this board but familiar with the software (at least at end-user level) would assume said functions exist.

And no, using the link in e-mail to unsubscribe from a thread doesn't work either. (groan)

Hmm, they are a bit of a pain, but I just put up with them, it doesn't take long to delete them and if I get really pee'd off with them I'll just treat them like any other spam and set up rules to block them. In this case, it's easy because they all come from the same alias.

I am having trouble unsubscribing from "In need of some clean humor!" every other thread I can unsubscribe from but this one is like a cockroach, it never dies. I would like to stop receiving e-mails from it and have followed the email link which gives me this error:"An invalid threadid or forumid was specified."
I have also tried to remove it using the subscription folder link that Heather listed. However, the e-mail notifications for any update to that thread have not stopped and I keep getting them. Am I cursed forever to have them flood into my e-mail box? Do I need to list the e-mails as spam so I can get them to go to my spam folder? What can I do??
