What is this "imported_" thing?

I haven't been here for a loooonnnng time, and I find that my user id is now "imported_Stargazer" instead of Stargazer. What's up with that, and am I stuck with being "imported" for the rest of my life on this board??

Doesn't everyone think imported goods are so much better and more special than domestic?

Oh, sure. And it occurred to me to comment on that. But since I am annoyed at the unexpected prefix, I am trying to see if something can be done about it.

Looks like a merge of usernames went wrong somewhere? Without knowing anything technicial about the software this forum uses (never used it before), my immediate guess would be that the more good foundation has run more than one forum, of which you have registered on both. They have then "merged" the two forums together (imported thge user database of one into the other). The username is the unique identifier in the database and no two can be the same so it just renamed one of the accounts with a prefix of "imported_".

i think it may have to do with when they changed servers awhile back.
