Default How do I Link to On-Line Scriptures and Highlight a Specific Verse

Let's say you want to link to a particular verse in the on-line version of the LDS scriptures. You want it to appear highlighted, and you want the verse to be at the top of the page. Maybe you guys already knew how to this, but I didn't. This does work, but perhaps someone else knows an easier way to do it. In the meantime:

Let us say that I want to link to Moroni 10:3-5.

The url will be http://scriptures.lds.org/en/moro/10/3-5#3

Breaking the URL down:

The components in red will always be present.
The component in orange will change according to the book (Moroni, Moses, Nephi, Obadiah)--you'll need to at least look up the book you want on lds.org to get this part.
The component in yellow is the chapter number.
The component in light brown is the verses you want to appear highlighted.
The component in blue is the verse that will display at the top of the page.

When you say highlight...do you mean an actual highlight or just so that one particular verse will appear instead of the entire chapter?

I just copy and past the verse and it shows as the book, chapter and verse in the post. Not the words that I copied.

When I'm doing my Book of Mormon forum each day...I'm just looking to post specific verses..I don't usually post the entire chapter and highlight anything.

The above method will show the entire chapter with the appropriate verses highlighted.

Pam, it's possible to link to one specific verse and have it show up alone. You omit the pound sign and everything after it from the form I used above, and add the letter a to the end, so that

will take you here. That particular verse has no footnotes; but if it did, they would show up below the text of the verse. Like this.

Haven't figured out how to do it for more than one verse at a time, though. Has anyone else here figured that out?

Jag take a look at this link and tell me if this is what you are referring to: This is one place I've placed a link to look at just 2 verses in the BOM.

2 Nephi 12:2-3

If you want to have just a couple specific verses show up:

Scriptures

Then in the upper left side of the screen you will see a "Search for." Type in the Book, chapter and verses and search. Just those particular scriptures will come up.

You would do the same thing even if you are already in the chapter and have found the verses you need. That way you are quoting just those verses instead of the entire chapter.
