Default Scriptures to Kindle.

I can't figure out how to load scriptures onto my new Kindle. I know, I know I'm pathetic. Many of you have given me all sorts of Links in my Electronic scriptures Thread. But I just don't know how they work I pick one click on it and then I'm lost. I have no idea what the next step is. Also since the Kindle is WIFI does it have to be connected to the computer to upload scriptures?
I also see that I have a Kindle email address Can I send an email from my computer to my kindle with scriptures copy and pasted into it? Or am I just being stupid?
I'm usually not this dense But if you're going to offer help. Please type slow, so I can keep up. Brother Ray

If you purchased it from Amazon, then you just need to go into the menu and synch online with Amazon. If it is something you downloaded to your PC, then you need to turn on your Kindle, then connect it via USB. The Kindle will look like a hard drive to your computer. Then, from the PC go into the Kindle drive, go into the documents folder and copy the scriptures in.

In your manuals (there are also videos on Youtube on how to do all of this), you create a folder and then place the scriptures or other book into it.

I was trying to get the ones straight from the Church site, and I'm sure eventually I will figure out how. meanwhile I just bought some LDS Scriptures from Amazon.
Now watch. I will go to the YouTube link you provided and find out I didn't need to spend the money ;0) Brother Ray

The only kindle apps straight from the church are for the kindle fire. Here is a link: LDS Mobile Apps for Kindle Fire

If you have something other than the fire, you may want to check out some of the links from this thread: LDS Scriptures for the Kindle

Hey did you figure it out yet?

I have a basic Kindle and bought "THE COMPLETE LDS SCRIPTURES | THE LDS QUADRUPLE COMBINATION (Fully Illustrated Edition)" for $2.99. It is not an official version (there isn't an official version for Kindle). Note that this version does not have any footnotes or Topical Guide and such. It is only the text of the scriptures. For $9.99 you can get a lot more, as mentioned in the thread Connie linked to.

If you want to buy one, get on your Kindle and go to the store and search for "LDS Scriptures". There's more to it if you have not yet set up an Amazon account and entered payment instructions. Let me know if you need help and I will be happy to help you through the process.

That's where I got my Scriptures. Got the $2.99 one before I saw the $9.99 one. Now I have them both. Also got Teachings of the Presidents George Albert Smith, The Great Apostasy by James Talmage, Jesus the Christ. Also by James Talmage, Believing Christ by Stephen E. Robinson. for 99 cents each.Three Degrees of Glory by Melvin J. Ballard for $1.25, and The May 2012 issue of the Ensign ( General Conference Issue) for free. The only one I wanted, but couldn't get is Teach My Gospel. But I have a Hard copy. Can't believe I got so many great books for such a low price.Took my Kindle to Church for the first time last Sunday. Did pretty good as long as we stuck to what we were studying "Alma" But, when the teacher told us to turn to D&C The passage was read and we were back to "Alma" before I even got to D&C. But I'm sure I'll get faster with practice. Brother Ray

Oops made a mistake Believing Christ actually cost $5.94 not 99 cents I was remembering wrong. Still a great deal, on a great book Brother Ray

It all depends on what you need. I do not use the footnotes much, so am happy with a version without all of that stuff. I actually got a MOBI version from memoware.com, which I like. However, I also have a separate copy of the Book of Mormon and Bible, so if my wife wants to read, she uses those. Also I can use those to more quickly jump to different books while in Sunday School class.

And, again, if there are books in EPub, you can use Calibre to convert them to MOBI format and then use them.
