Default How Do I Keep Unread Posts status from changing?

Sometimes the status of a whole batch of Unread Threads changes, as if I have read them, when I have not. I will click on New Posts, get a list of maybe 20 threads. I pick one, read it, click New Posts, and the new list will show only one or two. I can get around it by clicking on Today's Posts under the Quick Links, but that is an extra step. There is an option there under Quick Links to Mark Forums Read, but there is NOT one to Mark Forums UNread.

It is just a small aggravation. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? (LOL, yeah, Read Faster!)

That's a new one. Are your "cookies" enabled? If not, everytime you click new posts it resets. They are in your internet settings in your control panel. That happens to me when I "refresh" my page, but not when I click "New Posts".

I hope that helps. If not,.......????????

Thanks! Cookies. never thought about that!

I went to Internet Settings, and do not find anything to Enable Cookies; although I am pretty sure my cookies are enabled already. (Not that my cookies are enabling or co-dependent in any way)

But under Temp Internet Files, I have changed Check for newer versions of stored pages from Automatically to Never. Will test that now.

Later: OK, I'm using IE 7. The Cookies option is under the Page icon under Web Page Privacy Policy. I had the level set to Medium, which does block some cookies, but I went into Sites under that, and put lds.net in there, and Always Allow cookies, and saved that. Will see what happens!

I will go back and change the above Check for newer versions of pages back to Automatically in a few days, to see if that also makes a difference.

Thanks again.

Even LATER: I clicked New Posts, and got the same 4 or 5 "new" threads; I clicked to Refresh the Page, and All 30 or so came back. Great. Now I have THREE variables. . . . . will have to eliminate them one at a time to see what the trick is. No one else is having this problem, esp a more techie person than I?

I am having the same problem. I don't think it is the cookies because I go to other forums and this doesn't happen there.

Well, NONE of those things seem to have made a difference. I logged on this morning, and the time stamp said my last log in was 1969. I had a whole batch of new posts. I read a few, went idle to do other things, came back and clicked New Posts. My time stamp now says my last visit was Today, at 10:33, (it is now 11:00 on my time) and there are NO New Posts.

So, the critical item seems to be the login time.

I logged out, totally closed my browser page, reopened it, logged back in. My time stamp says I last logged in 12-31-1969 at 7:00 pm.

Then when I click New Posts, the time stamp changes to my last current log in time accurately, and only the 2 or 3 actual new posts from the last hour or so appear.

It would seem to be an initial log in glitch. Wonder if that can be fixed?

I'm still having the same problem Alaska. I must admit that I do find it annoying as I cannot always remember which threads I've read either partially or completely, as there are so many threads now...A solution would be most appreciated

I have the same problem too and I know I'm missing a lot of things. It only happens on this forum. I visit a lot of other forums and it doesn't happen to me anywhere else. BTW I use Firefox so it can't be browser related.
