Also, the fact that only the Marcionites were continuing the practice of baptism of the dead by the fourth century (according to the article) is even more proof of the reality of the Great Apostasy. Barry Bickmore has a chapter on ancient baptisms for the dead in his book, Restoring the Ancient Church. It is available online at fairlds.org for free viewing.

The Eastern Orthodox, as I understand it, still have baptism for the dead as a tenet, however it is no longer practiced nor actively taught.
