Default Baptism for the dead evidences

Other than the scripture in Corinthians are there any historical evidences of Baptisms for the dead being practiced?

Wow. That is very interesting. Also, the fact that only the Marcionites were continuing the practice of baptism of the dead by the fourth century (according to the article) is even more proof of the reality of the Great Apostasy. I found that article to be very interesting and I just skimmed over it. Thank you. Do you have more articles?

Barry Bickmore has a chapter on ancient baptisms for the dead in his book, Restoring the Ancient Church. It is available online at fairlds.org for free viewing.

The Eastern Orthodox, as I understand it, still have baptism for the dead as a tenet, however it is no longer practiced nor actively taught.
