Tithing question

I'm not sure which area this question should be in so if it needs moved, feel free to do so.

If a woman is active and their spouse is not and the spouse is the one that makes the money, how does tithing work in this situation? The woman wants to maintain her temple worthy status.

The definition of "full tithe" is between a person and the Lord. He knows what would be considered a full tithe, and she should consult Him. If she pays a full tithe on her income she is a full tithe payer. She is not held accountable for the spouse not paying a full tithe.

The way I understand it...she pays on "her increase." Not responsible for what her husband who is a non member makes.

If she earns any "increase" she pays tithing. She doesn't need to pay tithing on someone else's "increase".

Here's how my wife and I tackle this.

My wife is a believer.

I am no longer a believer.

She isn't working.

I am.

After all of the bills are paid, we split the 'increase.'

She pays tithing on hers.

I don't tithe on mine.

I do have more fun with my charitable contributions than she does.

She's recently taken notice and didn't pay tithing to the LDS church in August. Instead, she gave her tithe to some fun charities with me.

A faithful sister who is not employed outside the home and her husband is the sole provider would have no tithing to pay. In her case it would be more the intent of her heart. If she had income would she pay.

Thanks. I just wanted 2 be sure. She can still give fast offering then. I don't see a problem with that.

Should a former member like myself, who is trying to come back to the church pay tithing or not? Even though I plan on attending, however I am not considered a member.

I don't believe you pay tithing unless you are a member so until you get baptized I don't think you would pay, but you would need to be willing to once baptized. It is required for a temple recommend, but not as just a member either. I don't see why a believer wouldn't pay though.

While it is not required for a non-member to tithe I would say go by what the Spirit tells you.
