In fact, I feel sorry for bishops at times, having to hear all these sins.
There's a saying of mine: If you don't have gray hair by the time you're a bishop, you soon will. :P

So true. Confession could mean to Heavenly Father....or the Bishop if necessary.

No real point. Just wondering how far you have to go with confessions is all. That's why I love talking with the bishop. If I did something bad enough I can talk with him about it.

You know, ElderBigDawg, that is an interesting point, but I wonder if it doesn't refer to the attitude in general, just confessing you have sinned by the way you live your life. Isn't abstaining from the sacrament if you are unfit to take it a way of confession? Also, maybe it refers to someone who takes rebukes submissively, as we all should strive to.

Taking the initiative in not partaking the Sacrament is start of a true confession. Next, the individual needs to take the initiative in seeing a a judge of Israel [Bishop, Stake President, or Branch President].

This is what they are called to do - LISTENING. I had a young Marine yesterday after Sacrament wanted only to see me just to talk...I was just a listening ear since he had no real mortal father at home. It lasted for thirty minutes. I could recommended him to talk to his bishop but that was not important. Being a father figure was the most important thing for him.
