The greatest among us

Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:42-44

The Saviour's counsel and example to His disciples and to us showed the true heavenly order of Governance. In His Kingdom, the King is He that renders the most service of all. This strong repudiation of Aristocracy was in the minds of the Framers of the U.S. Constitution who revolted against despotism in all forms. Do we implement this counsel in our day?

John F. Kennedy famously told us:

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.
