Something I read in another thread got me thinking about "words of wisdom." This thread is for anyone who has any quotes or original words of wisdom or insightful quotes. This is going to be a serious thread. I'll delete any flippant, antagonistic and/or irrelevant posts. I'll start with a couple I've gathered over the years:

"The lower your standards are, the easier it is to trip over them."

"There is no vessel as whole as a broken heart."

"God didn't come down to earth in the image of man; man came down to earth in the image of God."

"The size of a man is measured by the size of the thing that makes him angry."

"The key to happiness is to count your blessings while others are adding up their troubles."

I have many more, but this'll do for now. Anyone else have anything valuable to add to the wisdom well? Bring it!

My wife has kept this one on our fridge for over 20 years.

We are spiritual beings here on earth to experience human things. Not human beings here on earth to experience spiritual things.

I like that one, Ben. Is there a source for it?

I think it was just meant as a "heads up" for those who like to cause trouble. :P

"Promises may make friends, but it is performances that keep them." (German proverb, I think)

This one was from my MIL:

"The first baby is for practice; after the other babies come, you can throw the first one away."

Humans who think or act like they already know everything only show they don’t really know God.

People who assume other people are like them only show they don’t know other people or God.

Only God really knows all there is that is good and to know all of them we first must know God.

If all the world was a stage and I was one of the actors, I would act like I wanted to know God.

If there is anything worth knowing I want to know what it is and to show it I will learn to know God.

These are just a few thoughts off the top of my head, and I’m still trying to learn to know God.
