See, it's not a real sign - it's a generated image from ChurchSignGenerator.com . Nobody was mocking any pastor. No real church ever had that on their sign. No families or friends were ever hurt.

"Church services have been canceled due to loss of pastor to mormon missionaries"

Why would anyone use the statement above as a teaching illustration to a few hundred young mormon men?

Isn't this what I have read in here quite often, "we (mormons) don't do that, we alway present the truth in love"?

So far, I have had this lame answer from loudmouth and two responses saying "this is totally insensitive".

You find this funny loudmouth? If it was reversed, and I was to make fun of this, I would be banned from this site..................

No one can justify this, it is pure Double standard.

ok i'm completely lost...................... let's be careful not to attack others when attempting to make the point of needed sensitivity.

Because humor is a useful tool for a teacher.
Because all of those few hundred mormon men knew it was a fabrication.
Because there was no insensivity around the Pastor's friends and family, because there was no Pastor to begin with.

I find the ability to stick a fake humorous message on a fake church's fake sign incredibly funny. And to be very honest, you are the first person I've ever met that didn't find it funny.

I used to interact with professional LDS church critics on the "Reachout Trust" forum based in the UK. Those critics all found the fake church signs funny.

I've seen threads on the MADB tossing these fake signs around - I never saw anyone take offense there either.

It depends on what you put on your fake sign. If it was something out of the temple ceremony, you are probably right. If it was something lighthearted and funny like "Ex-LDS Bishop Fred speaks tonight on Satan and Green Jello", I really doubt you could find a mormon to get offended.

Either that, or you are taking offense where none is intended.

You don't see the attitude being taught to those young men. Try reading some of the threads in here about why mormons can't understand why people don't like mormons/mormonism. It is because of insensitivities like this. You don't get it.

Like I said, if made a joke of this, I would have been banned, but no, people sit back
on their high perch, and say nothing...Is this what mormonism is about. Belittling other religions? Your behavior is no better than the Anti's down at temple square. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree..LM

I think it's entirely possible that you are making unwarranted assumptions about about what attitude was being taught. Again, I've seen Christians from many different denominations giggling at these fake church sign generators, and finding joy in a little light-hearted good-natured ribbing.

And do Baptists who find the churchsigngenerator funny not like baptists? This sign generator website was not started by mormons. It isn't run by mormons. It has nothing to do with mormons, other than a tiny percentage of folks that enjoy the humor offered by that site happen to be mormon.

Again, I'm disagreeing with you. That fake church sign wasn't belittling anyone. It was a fake sign. There never was any such pastor. Do you understand that?

Anyway, you speak out against belittling, and then belittle me in your very next sentence. Are you really, totally sure that you've identified the correct problem here?

Does it occur to anyone that even IF the sign was real (which it's not), that the LDS church does not have marquee style signs at their chapels, and that would mean that the sign was created BY the Baptist/Lutheran/Methodist/(insert whatever church here) church to which the former pastor (again, who doesn't exist) previously belonged?

Your HO is wrong, of course. LM doesn't speak for the Church in this matter.

But he does speak for me.
