Oh sorry...you have to admit there was contention and disdain though.

Okay everyone...let's cool down and get it back to the purpose of the thread.

The Church just released a YouTube video about the temple - YouTube - Mormon Messages: Why Mormons Build Temples

I never saw a single minute of Big Love, but the thread here, the email chains and last, not least the official church statement made me think about the entire story.

My personal conclusions:

I need to be very careful not to get upset and not to confuse things:

The producers of Big Love never promised to keep our temple ordinances or any other of our beliefs holy - just we did.

There's no certainty about their motives, but even if they were clear anti-mormon: maybe they never promised to love their enemies - but I did.

Maybe they even want to offend me - but it won't work unless I decide to be offended.

So I decided not to be offended, not to hate anyone for his ill-inspired actions and not to watch temple ordinances on television.

Obviously there's an increase in opportunities out there to find mistakes in other people, but there's still just a single person I can change...

Gjh1960 Wow, extremely well said!
I only hope I can have that kind of attitude. It hard to remember to calm down and think as you have done. I was beginning to get a little ruffled up about this Big Love coming out. After reading your post though, I agree. We can't change others motives, opinions, attitudes, etc. we can only control our own and help to show others what and why we feel the way we do.

The funny thing is that when ever you are against somethign it is considered a hateful thing to do. Like I mysel dont hate ... but I did digg it. It really is the same what they do, but I want people to start thinking that maybe they are going a little bit too far... the so called "freedom of word" is cangeing in to freedom of bashing anyone and anything....

WHY camt people be positive and take the positive from everything!

From own experience I'd guess that any longterm husband should be.
Seriously: I've no idea what you're talking about. I always thought that the Lord does know perfectly well about our capabilities and therefore doesn't give us anything but simple and clear commandments?

I would wait until after the show airs for two reasons. One, it gives them the chance to not air the show. Two, timing is everything. If you terminate it the day after the show airs, they will probably know why. Just my 2 cents worth.
