I'm very excited to be running banners for LDS Medcare. You can view the banners at the tops of the forum pages, and also in the ldstalk.com email portals. One of the biggest complaints has always been banner ads which are not tailored to LDS Members, and sometimes even offensive. I would really love to be able to run banners that are only beneficial to those using the boards and family oriented.

Please take some time to visit their site and you can use this topic to discuss it. I personally think it's a really great idea, and I really hope the site help them out by getting members aware of what is available.

Hi Heather,
You said something before about how clicking on banner ads helps to pay costs of LDStalk, and I'm wondering if you would care to share a little about how that works.

Are you saying that advertisers somehow know where people are on the internet when they click on an ad? And that advertisers pay the people running their ads according to how many clicks they get?

Again, I'm just wondering how that works.

Hi Ray,

Banners are usually served in with a CPC (pay per click) or CPM (pay per impression) and use a banner tracking program to account for all the hits and clicks.

In the past I've ran only advertising.com banners. I signed up with them, and then I run their banners, and they keep track of the impressions/clicks.

When I sell advertising space to LDS related companies I'm not offering to be paid per click, because I want the members of the board to visit their site because they want to, not because they think it will add up the revenue for the site.
