WordFlood,

Are you a survivalist, doomsday type of guy, or have you been put in charge of emergency preparedness at church?

Great links. I was kind of apathetic (I carry my 2 years supply with me, I'd always say), but then put in charge of EP as a member of the Bishopric and helped set it up in our ward with the EP Coordinator. Really opened my eyes, and made me realize that I'd better get off my duff!

That, and we had a GA come to our stake a couple of years ago quoting Pres Hinckley about the signs of the times and he finished with "You've been warned, brethren". (during a PH Ldrshp meeting). Needless to say, I was a tad alarmed...

Six,

Ya my bishop gave me this calling and I really like it. When I was set apart, well, all I can say it was very very spiritual and very eye opening. I mean if people really knew.... you know?

After I was set apart, I got in my car and drove along the wasatch front for nearly 3 hours getting inspiration. The next few weeks I worked on a 30 page emergency plan for our ward. We just rolled it out to our ward. It was a huge relief for me to get that done and in the hands of the ward members.

In the valley, we have potential issues with earthquakes. But most people perhaps arent really even prepared for something as simple as a long power outage. Apparently they used the my basic plan for every ward in the stake.

Im pretty ready now myself, of course, I have to be. My job is to organize the evacuation of the members if we need one. We have radios, maps, food - everything we need to get people out of the living spaces and over to the stake center if needed. We are going to have a mock drill/earthquake in a few months. That should be fun! We are going to test the radios I purchased and also test the plan.

Anyways - those links are a start, I even had a website up for about a month so the members could see the plan online.

FYI - Our ward is preparing for a "mock" emergency. Therefore, I have re-opened our preparedness website for our branch at the following ...

http://www.ldsready.org

Although we use it from time to time for our ward, you are welcome to use it yourself if you wish. The website will be up and running in a few hours after the URL propigates through the web.

It will be up later today, My ISP is inspecting the site. They have to do that sort of thing to make sure we are living up to the rules of the ISP, which is no problem for me!

Nice little site, lots of good information on there.

One little quip though.

The music on the homepage. I usually listen to music or online radio streams on my computer, and the music drowns that out. I see there is a volume control at the bottom of the page, but you have to scroll down to see it, even on my 22'' monitor. It would be nicer to have that volume control visible at the top of the page, so someone could cut it off if they wanted to.
